  • Publication number: 20160323482
Abstract: System and methods for synchronizing supplemental media content to media content being provided by a different content source. The systems and methods may identify media content from user input, and determine a plurality of associated supplementary media. By monitoring and interpreting a data stream containing information about the primary media content, the systems and methods may interpret indicia of content ceasing and resuming and similarly cease and resume playback of the supplemental media in response, preserving the synchronicity of the multiple content sources.

  • Publication number: 20160309214
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that synchronizes alternate audio on a first device with video on a second device. For example, the media guidance application may obtain an image of the video asset, determine a point in the video asset that the image corresponds to, and, from that, determine the point in the alternate audio from which playback should begin. The media guidance application may also obtain the image of the video asset in response to determining that the video and the audio assets are not synchronized. By doing so, the media guidance application may automatically, without additional manual effort on the part of the user, synchronize the alternate audio asset with the video asset.

  • Patent number: 8893169
Abstract: A widget running on user equipment selectively obscures portions of media content according to user and/or service provider defined criteria. Information regarding potentially objectionable content in media content may be stored in databases. Based on the information regarding potentially objectionable content and the defined criteria, the database may provide censor instructions. The instructions may be executed by the widget to obscure the potentially objectionable content in media content that is accessed by the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 8657680
Abstract: Systems and methods for incorporating online user generated media content (e.g., videos) into an interactive video gaming environment are provided. Media assets that are associated with different measures of quality generated by users are stored on a remote server. A player action is received by the remote server. A determination is made as to which one of the plurality of levels of the interactive video gaming environment corresponds to the action. One of the videos associated with one of the measures of quality is selected based on the determination of the level corresponding to the action. The selected video is transmitted to the player.

  • Patent number: 8628423
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating hints for a player with an interactive video gaming environment are provided. A plurality of videos from users is received at a remote server. Each of the plurality of videos includes a hint that corresponds to a different one of a plurality of segments within the interactive video gaming environment. An action relating to game play in the interactive video gaming environment is received at the remote server from player equipment. A determination is made as to whether the action is associated with one of the plurality of segments. In response to determining the action is associated with one of the plurality of segments, one of the plurality of videos that includes the hint that corresponds to the one of the plurality of segments associated with the action is selected. The selected one of the plurality of videos is transmitted to the player equipment.

  • Patent number: 8498722
Abstract: Systems and methods for incorporating online user generated media content (e.g., videos) into an interactive video gaming environment are provided. Reward or penalty media assets generated by users are stored on a remote server. A player action is received by the remote server and ranked. Based on the rank associated with the player action, the video asset server selects a reward or penalty media asset of the stored media assets. The selected reward or penalty media asset is presented to the player.

  • Publication number: 20120308192
Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting for display to a player, based on a duration of using exercise equipment, videos are provided. The user equipment may monitor an exercise attribute of the user for a given period and compare the monitored attribute to a predetermined threshold corresponding to the attribute. Until the monitored attribute exceeds the predetermined threshold, the user equipment may present one or more media assets associated with a particular measure of quality. Once the predetermined threshold is exceeded by the monitored attribute, the user equipment may adjust the predetermined threshold and present one or more media assets associated with a higher measure of quality than the previously presented media assets.

  • Publication number: 20110078715
Abstract: A user is provided with data and/or other interactive features based on their interaction with a widget running on user equipment. User permissions, user profiles, and other options related to the widget may be aggregated by a central processor. The user may invoke the widget during a movie commercial, and the processor may use the information it has gathered to identify the exact movie related to the movie commercial. This resolution may be based on the time the user invoked the widget, as well as the programming schedule the user watched during broadcast of the movie commercial. The user may be provided with data and/or other interactive features from a third party based on the movie of interest.
