  • Patent number: 8660526
Abstract: A method of detecting messages from an unwanted source in an ad-hoc network is disclosed. According to the method, a first message is received that purports to be from a mobile communication device. The first purported message has a first location component incorporated therein. A second message is received that purports to be from the mobile communication device. The second message has a second location component incorporated therein. The first location component is compared with the second location component. It is determined that one of the first purported message and the second purported message is not from the mobile communication device when the first location component is inconsistent with the second location component.

  • Patent number: 7779458
Abstract: The present invention is a wireless communication system and method. In an exemplary embodiment, the wireless communication system includes a destination system and a source network. The source network provides network services to the destination system. Further, a plurality of mobile nodes are communicatively coupled with each other for allowing data packets to be transferred between the source network and the destination system. In addition, at least one firewall is communicatively coupled with the destination system and at least one of the mobile nodes included within the plurality of mobile nodes for monitoring data packet exchange between the source network and the destination system. The at least one firewall utilizes at least location as a controlling parameter for regulating data packet exchange as the at least one mobile end node moves into areas associated with varying degrees of threat.

  • Patent number: 7054601
Abstract: A method of storing and selecting a radio station (104, 106) in a radio (102) having a plurality of tuner presets (130) and a plurality of memory locations (146) assigned to each of the plurality of tuner presets, includes storing a plurality of radio stations (104, 106) under a tuner preset (134), where each of the plurality of radio stations is stored as a record (148) in one of the plurality of memory locations assigned to the tuner preset. The record can include a radio station frequency (150) and a geographic position (152) of the radio at a time that the record is stored. In response to subsequent selection of the tuner preset (134), a radio station is selected from the plurality of radio stations stored under the tuner preset and includes identifying the record having the geographic position that is closest to a geographic position (253) of the radio at a time that the tuner preset is selected and tuning the radio to the radio station frequency (150) of the identified record.

  • Publication number: 20040125956
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing documents incorporates the use of position or location information. In one example, documents (310) include one or more location attributes (312) that are used by a receiving device (200), in conjunction with position information provided to or determined by the receiving device (200), to determine operations that may be performed on the document (310). Alternatively, based on the location attributes (312) and the position information, the device (200) may determine that certain operations are not permitted to be performed on the document. Further still, display of selected portions of the document (310), or access to the document (310) may be likewise controlled in this manner. In one embodiment, the receiving device (200) is a wireless mobile device such as a cellular telephone or the like.
