  • Patent number: 7108466
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a device for securing a personal-transport vehicle to a mounting surface includes one of a plow bracket and a bracket member for mounting on one of the personal-transport vehicle and the mounting surface, and a receptacle for mounting on the other of the personal transport vehicle and the mounting surface and for mating with and receiving the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member. The receptacle includes a panel and a docking lever pivotally coupled to the panel and movable between a first position wherein docking lever retains the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member so that the receptacle and the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member remain in a mated condition, and a second position.

  • Patent number: 6928785
Abstract: A freestanding portable partition panel system is provided for open office spaces and the like. Each panel includes a partition frame having vertical upright frame members positioned adjacent opposite side edges thereof, and multiple horizontal frame members attached to the upright frame members in a vertically spaced-apart relationship to rigidly interconnect the same. One or more horizontal rows of discrete slots are defined in each of the horizontal frame members. Cover panels are mounted on the partition frames that permit access to the slots, and off-module connectors with hooks are provided for engaging the slots for interconnecting furniture units in off-module positions. For example, the hooks of the connectors are engaged with selected slots to hold a furniture unit, such as a partition panel, perpendicular to a second partition panel in an off-module position on its face.

  • Patent number: 6837666
Abstract: A presently-preferred device for securing a personal-transport vehicle to a platform comprises a trunnion member adapted to be fixedly coupled to the personal-transport device and comprising a first and a second trunnion. The presently-preferred device also comprises a receptacle comprising a yoke arm adapted to be fixedly coupled to the platform and comprising two side panels each having a slot formed therein. The receptacle further comprises two hook levers pivotally coupled to the respective side panels. The hook levers are pivotally biased so that the hook levers contact respective trunnions and interfere with movement thereof toward open ends of the slots when the platform is in an upper position, whereby the trunnion member is secured to the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6692215
Abstract: A presently-preferred embodiment of a lift and carrier assembly for a personal-transport vehicle comprises a lifting column, an actuator mechanism adapted to lift the lifting column, a pivot plate rotatably coupled to the lifting column, a platform fixedly coupled to the pivot plate, a cam follower coupled to the pivot plate, and a cam member being fixed in relation to the lifting column so that lifting of the lifting column causes the cam follower to contact the cam member thereby generating a contact force between the cam follower and the cam member. The cam follower is biased so that the contact force prevents the cam follower from being lifted when a weight acting on the platform is below a predetermined value thereby causing the pivot plate to rotate about the lifting column in response to the lifting of the lifting column.

  • Patent number: 6453900
Abstract: An inhaler for releasing an aerosol from a container having a lip and an outlet normally sealed by a stem movable relative to the lip. The inhaler has an elongate body comprising a chamber having a first end and a second end, the chamber forming an opening at the first end of the chamber. The elongate body further comprises a stem block with a socket adapted to receive the stem of the container, a dispensing nozzle and a flow restrictive valve. The dispensing nozzle is adjacent to the stem block for providing communication between the socket and the chamber and is adapted to direct a discharge of the aerosol from the container stem into the chamber. The flow restrictive valve is in open communication with the chamber and responsive to a change in fluid pressure. The inhaler also has an actuator pivotably attached to the elongate body. The actuator has an opening adapted to receive the lip of the container and a detent for forming a removable connection between the lip and the actuator.

  • Patent number: 6397532
Abstract: A freestanding portable partition panel system is provided for open office spaces and the like. Each panel includes a skeleton-like frame having two vertical uprights positioned adjacent opposite side edges thereof, and at least two pairs of horizontal stringers attached to the outer faces of the uprights in a vertically spaced-apart relationship to rigidly interconnect the same. One or more horizontal rows of slots are defined in each of the stringers. Cover panels are detachably mounted thereon to provide ready access to the frame. The cover panels permit access to the slots, and special off-module connectors with hooks for engaging the slots are provided for interconnecting adjacent panels in off-module positions. The hooks of the connectors are engaged with selected slots to hold a first partition panel perpendicular to a second partition panel in an off-module position on its face.

  • Patent number: 6397763
Abstract: An adjustable support apparatus for supporting an object, such as a keyboard. The apparatus has a rotatable support arm to which a rotatable support member is attached. Rotation of the support arm allows the height of the support plate to be adjusted. Rotation of the support member allows its inclination to be adjusted. A four bar linkage mechanism ensures that the inclination of the support member remains constant despite variation in the angular orientation of the support arm. The support arm is locked from downward rotation by the interaction of a ring segment, formed on one of the links of the four bar linkage mechanism, with pins projecting from the base. The locking is disengaged by tilting the support member upward. A ratchet and pawl mechanism locks the inclination of the support member.

  • Patent number: 6227508
Abstract: An adjustable support apparatus for supporting an object, such as a keyboard. The apparatus has a rotatable arm to which a rotatable support plate is attached. Rotation of the arm allows the height of the support plate to be adjusted. Rotation of the support plate allows its inclination to be adjusted. A constant force spring applies a varying upward moment to the support arm that approximates the varying downward weight moment applied to support arm, thereby restraining downward motion of the arm and making it easier for the user to raise the arm. Ratchet and pawl mechanisms lock the angular orientation of the support arm and the inclination of the support plate. The support plate is pivoted to the support arm so that twisting of the support plate disengages both the height and the inclination locking mechanisms.
