Abstract: A semi-trailer sidewall construction includes a horizontally aligned base rail, a horizontally aligned top rail, a plurality of vertical posts coupled between the top and bottom rails at spaced apart intervals along a length of the top and bottom rails, a plurality of outside panels coupled between the top and base rails, and a plurality of inside panels coupled between the top and bottom rails. The vertical posts include first and second thicknesses with the first thickness being less than the second thickness. Separate outside panels are coupled to pairs of vertical post within the spaced apart intervals, and separate inside panels are coupled to pairs of vertical post within the spaced apart intervals. The outside and inside panels are spaced apart a distance defined by the first post thickness.

Abstract: An enclosed semi trailer (10) is disclosed. Tracks (28) are provided for the support of an upper level of automobiles (17). A lower level of automobiles (17) are supported within pans (37). The tracks (28) are moved by means of support arms (29) which are powered by rams (23). The tracks (28) and support members (29) and cross frame members (26) fit within cutout portions (37, 38, 39) in the floor (25) so as to provide a continuous, smooth surface when general freight is being hauled.

Abstract: A front end loading enclosed semi trailer (20) and method of loading an enclosed semi trailer. A hitch (24) is present proximate a front end (34) for interconnection to a tractor (22). A wheel assembly (28) supports a back end (26) of the semi trailer (20). Extensible jack devices (40) are mounted proximate the first end (34) for raising and lowering the first end (34) of the semi trailer (20). Doors (36) are present at the front end (34) for allowing entrance into the semi trailer (20) whereby when lowered, the semi trailer (20) can be loaded from the front end (34).

A floor (28) interconnecting the sidewalls (22), is arched upward between the sidewalls (22) to provide a raised floor surface near a mid-portion of the floor (28) generally along the longitduinal extent thereof. Furthermore, the trailer includes a support structure (34) for supporting the floor (28) and the sidewalls (22, 24, 30), and the top wall (26). The arched floor (28) causes articles or pallets (48) loaded onto the trailer to tip outwardly toward the sidewalls (22) of the trailer (20) such that the top of the pallets ( 48) are spaced further apart.
