  • Patent number: 5562107
Abstract: A reclosable wound cover having a base for securement to the skin surfaces of a patient surrounding a wound and having a reclosable, transparent cover is disclosed. The base is formed of a barrier layer of soft, conformable fluid-absorbing, adhesive material and a thin, elastomeric backing layer which covers a surface of the barrier layer opposite from its skin-contacting surface. The cover includes a planar, transparent cover film which allows for visual inspection of the underlying wound through an opening in the base. The cover is smaller than the perimeter of the base so that lifting forces applied to the cover will not tend to separate the base from the skin surfaces of the patient and so that the cover does not contact the skin surfaces of the patient. An adhesive border is secured along the peripheral edge of the cover for releasably securing it to the backing layer of the base.

  • Patent number: 5394799
Abstract: Retaining elements are disclosed for mounting on a platen of an imprinter in order to position and secure an identification band on the platen for an imprinting operation. Each retaining element comprises a base having a planar bottom surface and an upper surface generally parallel with the bottom surface and including a band support portion, an adhesive layer along the bottom surface for securing the retaining elements to the platen, and a cantilevered spring arm secured at one end to the base (and extending over the band support portion of the base). A pair of such elements are affixed in spaced relation on the platen on opposite sides of an imprinting zone so that an identification band can be slipped between the undersides of the spring arms and the support portion of the bases with the imprint-receiving portion of the band traversing the imprinting zone and, preferably, the clasp of the band engaging a side edge of one of the retaining elements.

  • Patent number: 5375799
Abstract: A collection bag hanger is disclosed for attaching fluid collection bags, such as a urinary drainage bags, to beds having bedrails of different widths. The collection bag hanger comprises a central body portion having parallel side edges, an attachment strap for releasably supporting the fluid collection bag, and a pair of opposed hook arms of generally inverted U-shaped configuration, each hook arm having a first depending leg portion hingedly connected to one of the side edges of the central body portion. A rigid strap member is provided for securing the hook arms in any of a plurality of symmetrical angular positions for receiving and securely engaging bedrails of different widths.

  • Patent number: 4874365
Abstract: A naso-gastric feeding tube (10) includes a hollow, flexible tube (12) having an open, proximal end (14) permanently secured to a hollow adapter (16), forming an integral unit. A stylet (56) is removably mounted within the stylet port (42) of the adaptor (16). A syringe (72) may be secured to the placement port (44) in order to conduct the placement confirmation test to assure proper insertion of the feeding tube within the patient, eliminating the need for removing and then reinserting the stylet to confirm proper insertion of the feeding tube (10). Additionally, the feeding tube (10) permits delivery of a second prescribed product without disconnecting the tube (10) from the source of the first prescribed product.
