  • Patent number: 11960683
Abstract: A display system for sensing a finger of a user applied to the display system includes a display panel; a sensor for sensing the finger; a sensing light source configured to emit a first light having a first wavelength W1; and a reflective polarizer disposed between the display panel and the sensor. For a substantially normally incident light, an optical transmittance of the reflective polarizer versus wavelength for a first polarization state has a band edge such that for a first wavelength range extending from a smaller wavelength L1 to a greater wavelength L2 and including W1, where 30 nm?L2?L1?50 nm and L1 is greater than and within about 20 nm of a wavelength L3 corresponding to an optical transmittance of about 50% along the band edge, the optical transmittance has an average of greater than about 75%.

  • Publication number: 20240103656
Abstract: An input device, such as a mouse, can include a housing defining an exterior grip portion and an internal volume, a sensor assembly disposed in the internal volume, and an emitter electrically coupled to the sensor assembly. In response to the sensor assembly detecting a first touch input on the housing, the emitter sends a first signal including information regarding an angular position of the grip portion. In response to the sensor assembly detecting a second touch input on the housing, the emitter sends a second signal including information regarding a direction of a force exerted on the housing from the second touch input.

  • Publication number: 20240103645
Abstract: A computer input system includes a mouse including a housing having an interior surface defining an internal volume and a sensor assembly disposed in the internal volume. A processor is electrically coupled to the sensor assembly and a memory component having electronic instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to determine an orientation of the mouse relative to a hand based on a touch input from the hand detected by the sensor assembly. The mouse can also have a circular array of touch sensors or lights that detect hand position and provide orientation information to the user.

  • Patent number: 8732055
Abstract: A computing device of a user, including a processor, a memory, an electronic organization application comprising software instructions stored in memory and executed on the processor to store a plurality of activities associated with the user, and a rewind application configured to interact with the electronic organization application and including software instructions stored in memory and executed on the processor to present at least one question associated with each of the plurality of activities stored in the electronic organization application, receive a response to the at least one question, determine whether each of the plurality of activities is of a predetermined category based on the response received to obtain a subset of the plurality of activities, and store, in a repository, data associated with the subset of the plurality of activities for use in a financial application.

  • Patent number: 8510187
Abstract: A tax refund amount is determined or received at an intermediate computer operably connected to tax authority and user computers. The user computer and a tax preparation program are used to prepare an electronic tax return and determine the refund amount. Accounts that are available to receive a portion of the refund are identified and selected. A determination regarding how the refund can be allocated to selected accounts is made. The refund is transferred from the tax authority to the intermediate computer, and respective portions of the refund are transferred from the intermediate computer to respective selected accounts based at least in part upon a determined or selected allocation to increase the value of the refund, e.g., due to interest rates of selected accounts, compared to the refund value determined with the tax preparation program.

  • Patent number: 8463676
Abstract: In general, in one aspect, the invention relates to a method, system, and computer readable medium for interpreting discrepancy codes. The invention comprises obtaining, by an intermediary system, tax information associated with a taxpayer, wherein the tax information comprises an expected refund amount; obtaining an issued refund amount associated with the taxpayer; comparing the expected refund amount and the issued refund amount; determining, based on the comparing, a discrepancy amount; obtaining, in response to determining the discrepancy amount, a discrepancy code associated with the issued refund amount; retrieving, from a discrepancy code database, a discrepancy information record using the discrepancy code, wherein the discrepancy information record indicates a source of the discrepancy amount; generating a discrepancy explanation using the discrepancy information record, the discrepancy amount, and the tax information; and sending the generated discrepancy explanation to a client system.

  • Patent number: 8447667
Abstract: Systems, methods and articles for online computerized methods and systems for facilitating a loan between a borrower and a lender in a financial services system having a loan processing application integrated with a tax return preparation application, in which a lender's tax refund is used to fund the loan. Tax returns are prepared for borrowers and for lenders using the tax return preparation application. The borrowers submits loan request to the system. The system asks lenders having a tax refund if they would like to loan the tax refund to other people and the system presents loan options to the lenders. If a lender likes a loan request, the lender instructs the system to enter into a loan for the request for a specified amount on agreed to loan terms, and the loan amount is then transferred to the borrower, funded by the tax refund.
