  • Patent number: 4123552
Abstract: Fungus and mold growth in crops and organic matter are inhibited by the use of bis-carboxylic acid esters and compositions thereof. In a preferred embodiment, crops and animal feedstuffs are preserved during storage by applying a microbiocidal amount of a mono-, di or trioxymethylene, or lower alkylidene bis-alkanoate, or a mixture thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 1975
Date of Patent: October 31, 1978
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Daniel L. Kensler, Jr., Gustave K. Kohn, David D. Walgenbach
  • Patent number: 4012526
Abstract: Fungal growth in animal feedstuffs is inhibited by the use of di-carboxylic acid esters and compositions thereof. In addition to inhibiting the growth of fungi, the di-carboxylic acid esters increase the nutritional value of the animal feedstuff treated, and promote greater weight gain and feed efficiency response in animals fed the treated feedstuff compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 1975
Date of Patent: March 15, 1977
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Daniel L. Kensler, Jr., Gustave K. Kohn, David D. Walgenbach
  • Patent number: 3968771
Abstract: A process for applying a pesticidal composition to granular vegetative products such as grains and seeds, which comprises:1. loading and compacting a granular material into a first chamber by conveying it upwardly against the force of gravity;2. conveying and tumbling the compacted granular material from the first chamber into a second chamber of greater capacity than the first chamber to permit mixing and tumbling of the granular material;3. spraying the tumbling granular material with a pesticidal composition in the second chamber; and4. discharging the sprayed granular material from the second chamber.Apparatus suitable for carrying out the process of the invention are also described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 1974
Date of Patent: July 13, 1976
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: David D. Walgenbach, Kenneth E. Stocker
  • Patent number: 3931412
Abstract: Fungal and bacterial growth are inhibited by the use of di-carboxylic acid esters and compositions thereof. In a preferred embodiment, crops and animal feedstuffs are preserved during storage against fungal attack by applying a fungicidal amount of a mono-, di- or trioxymethylene, or lower alkylidene bis-alkanoate, or a mixture thereof. In another preferred embodiment, apple scab is controlled by applying to apple trees a fungicidal amount of a mono-, di- or trioxymethylene bis-alkanoate.
