  • Publication number: 20130055622
Abstract: A process of making a fuel product from spent grain from a beer brewing process. In the brewing process, the grain is pulverized to a particle size whose mean particle size is generally in the range of 0.25 mm to 0.6 mm with less than 1% greater than 2 mm. After the brewing sugars are extracted from the grain, the spent grain is pressed against a filter to reduce moisture below sixty-five percent (65%), and then the grain is dried to further reduce its moisture to less than ten percent (10%). The dried spent grain, after the aforementioned processing, is fed into a combustion chamber for a steam boiler that is used for beer brewing, and the spent grain is advanced downward through the combustion chamber with agitation to aid combustion.

  • Patent number: 7551640
Abstract: A frame timing adjustment apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes an ingress framing unit, an egress framing unit coupled to the ingress framing unit, and a framing control unit coupled to control the ingress framing unit and the egress framing unit. The ingress framing unit is configured to generate an adjusted frame by virtue of being configured to adjust a position of information within a frame. The egress framing unit is configured to frame on the adjusted frame. The framing control unit is coupled to control the ingress framing unit to generate the adjusted frame and the egress framing unit to frame the adjusted frame.

  • Patent number: 5953333
Abstract: A system (10) for transmitting data is presented. The system (10) includes a data transmission medium (12, 28) and an overhead generator (40) connected to the data transmission medium (12, 28), such as through a switch. The overhead generator (40) digitally encodes control data into one or more bytes in a data transmission frame (70) used to transmit data over the system (10). The system also includes a monitor/selector (22) coupled to the data transmission medium (12, 28). The monitor/selector (22) reads the digitally encoded control data in the byte in the data transmission frame (70). A processor (24) coupled to the monitor/selector (22) processes the digitally encoded control data in the data transmission frame (70).

  • Patent number: 4964105
Abstract: A procedure for replacing an existing switch (62) with a greater-capacity replacement switch (12) in a communication system (10) is disclosed. The replacement switch (12) has redundant interconnect memories (40) that can store different interconnect maps. The replacement switch (12) also has logic circuitry (48) that forces the replacement switch (12) to operate using only a selected one of the redundant interconnect memories (40). The procedure loads a transparent map into the interconnect memories. Next, the procedure couples the replacement switch (12) in series between drop facilities (14) and the existing switch (62) and between the existing switch (62) and line facilities (16). The coupling scheme and transparent map route communication through both the replacement switch (12) and the existing switch (62) without substantially affecting service.
