  • Patent number: 6791206
Abstract: A floating ocean swell electric generator system includes a floating platform having a deck and an engine for propelling a floating platform. A plurality of ocean electric generators are mounted on the floating platform. Each floating generator has an elongated stator tube extending from the floating platform below the deck into the surface of the water and a floating linear rotor in the stator tube for movement with ocean swells passing beneath the floating platform. Electric energy is generated by the movement of the linear rotor in the stator tube responsive to ocean swells.

  • Patent number: 6203710
Abstract: A liquid decontamination system has a liquid treatment chamber having a liquid input and output and a gas input and output. A plurality of electrodes are positioned to place a voltage across the liquid treatment chamber and the liquid therein. A plurality of magnets are also positioned adjacent the electrodes for placing a magnetic field across the chamber and liquid therein. As the contaminated liquid is fed through the liquid treatment chamber, a predetermined gas, such as nitrogen, ozone, oxygen, or hydrogen peroxide, are fed into the contaminated liquid while simultaneously having the electric and magnetic fields applied to the liquid. The liquid leaving the treatment chamber is fed to a flush tank which removes contaminates and agglomerated solids therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6020653
Abstract: A submerged reciprocating electric generator is placed below the ocean surface and creates electric power from the surface ocean swells. The generator coil reciprocates linearly in response to an external force acting on a float by passing ocean swells. A cable connects the float on the ocean surface with the reciprocating coil of the submerged generator. A magnetic field is focussed through the coil as it reciprocates, creating an electromotive force in the coil. The magnetic field is created in such a manner as to provide uniform field of a single magnetic orientation throughout the entire length of motion of the reciprocating coil. The generator includes a base formed on the ocean floor supporting magnetic core having a generator coil movably mounted therein and connected to a float with a cable passing through cable alignment bearings. Electromagnetic windings are mounted at the closed end of the generator magnetic flux core.

  • Patent number: 5696413
Abstract: An electric generator includes a base having an outer pole flux core supported on the base and having a linear bore extending thereinto. A plurality of permanent magnets are mounted to the outer pole along the interior of the linear bore. A center pole flux core extends into the linear bore of the outer pole flux core. A generator coil is formed on the coil support sleeve and slidably mounted over the center pole flux core in the outer pole flux core linear bore and extends from the outer pole linear bore. A float member is attached to the generator coil support sleeve for moving the support sleeve responsive to movement of the float movement whereby the electric generator produces electric power responsive to movement of the float when the float is positioned to float on an oscillated fluid, such as when the electric generator is mounted to a platform over ocean swells.

  • Patent number: 4453079
Abstract: An irradiator of the type using a radioactive material as a source of radiation is combined with a gaseous liquid contact chamber. The irradiator has a casing having an input and output therefrom and a plurality of connected chambers formed in the casing and separated by walls having an opening therethrough. A plurality of gamma radiation sources are located in a plurality of the chambers, thus forming a plurality of irradiation chambers. At least one of the chambers is a gas treatment chamber having a gas input line connected thereto to provide gas liquid contact in the gas treatment chamber. The walls between the irradiation chambers and the gas treatment chambers are made of a gamma radiation blocking material, such as lead or concrete. Gas escape lines are provided for preventing the build up of gas in the chambers, so that a fluid can be treated through a series of irradiation gas contact treatments. Gas lines can also be provided directly into the irradiation chambers.

  • Patent number: 4260901
Abstract: A system for converting the mechanical energy in the wave motion of a body of water into electrical energy. A frame is fixed with respect to the wave motion of the water. A flotation element is buoyantly supported by the water and constrained to follow only the vertical component of the wave motion. The motion of the flotation element is transferred to an electrical generating device which includes a device for producing electromagnetic flux and electrical coils. The motion of the flotation element causes relative motion between the flux-producing device and the electrical coils thereby generating an electromotive force. A positioning subsystem is provided for moving the electrical generating device relative to the flotation element when the average depth of the body of water changes so as to maintain a symmetrical relative motion between the flux-producing device and the electrical coils.

  • Patent number: 4172019
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for treating a fluid hydrocarbon fuel for retarding the agglomeration between particles thereof and for retarding the growth of bacteria and fungi therein. The process includes the steps of transporting a plurality of unit volumes of said fluid hydrocarbon fuel through an irradiating location and irradiating each unit of the plurality of unit volumes at the irradiating location with either neutron or gamma radiation. An apparatus for treating the fluid hydrocarbon fuels with the nuclear radiation also is provided. The apparatus includes a generally conical central irradiating cavity which is surrounded by a spiral outer irradiating cavity. The fluid hydrocarbon fuel is transported through the cavities while being irradiated by the nuclear radiation.
