Publication number: 20220331631Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler with a push-in connection includes a sprinkler body having an input orifice for receiving fluid and an output orifice for outputting the fluid, the body having a push-in connection at the input end and a base portion. The push-in connection is adapted to be connected to a pipe fitting by insertion and has a plurality of recesses, a first recess having a first gasket, a second recess having a second gasket, and a third recess having a retaining clip. A frangible element is held in place by a set screw and a stopper. The frangible element is designed to fail at a predetermined temperature to release the stopper. A deflector is positioned on the base portion and configured to direct the output fluid toward the output end, upon activation of the sprinkler by failure of the frangible element at the predetermined temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2021Publication date: October 20, 2022Inventors: David Deurloo, Bryan Bassett, Jeremy Cain, Paul A. Patent number: 10201723Abstract: A dry pipe valve includes a main chamber having an input port and an output port, a clapper assembly installed in the main chamber, a pushrod, a pushrod chamber, and a dry valve actuator. The clapper assembly includes a clapper that seals the input port of the main chamber, and a hinged lever that holds the clapper in a closed position or allows the clapper to open. Based on a pressure of a control fluid in the pushrod chamber, the pushrod moves to urge the hinged lever against the clapper to hold the clapper in the closed position, or to release the hinged lever and thereby allow the clapper to open. The dry valve actuator is attached to a housing of the pushrod chamber and controls the pressure of the control fluid in the pushrod chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: February 12, 2019Assignee: The Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc.Inventor: David Deurloo

Patent number: 9677691Abstract: In one example embodiment, a bracket for a sprinkler fitting is provided having a first flange, a second flange connected to the first flange, and a mounting flange connected to at least one of the first and second flanges. The mounting flange may for example be substantially orthogonal to the first and second flanges. One of the first and second flanges has a preferably circular hole formed therethrough, and the other has a polygonal opening formed therethrough and aligned with the circular hole. An adapter having a polygonal end is inserted in the bracket such that the polygonal end aligns with the polygonal opening so as to limit rotation of the adapter with respect to the bracket, the adapter disposing a sprinkler coupled thereto with respect to a finished ceiling surface of a structure.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2014Date of Patent: June 13, 2017Assignee: THE RELIABLE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER COMPANYInventors: Thomas Multer, John Tow, David Veisz, David Asplund, David Deurloo

Publication number: 20160008645Abstract: A dry pipe valve is provided which includes a main chamber having an input port for receiving fluid from a supply line and further having an output port. The dry pipe valve further includes a clapper assembly installed in the main chamber for sealing the input port. The clapper assembly includes a clapper configured to seal the input port, where the clapper is hinged to the main chamber. The clapper assembly further includes a hinged lever movable between a first position in which the clapper is held closed by the lever and a second position in which the clapper is allowed to open. The dry pipe valve also includes a pushrod mounted perpendicular to a direction of a main flow through the valve. The pushrod urges the lever against the clapper when the clapper is in the first position. Also included in the dry pipe valve is a pushrod chamber through which the pushrod extends, the pushrod chamber having an inlet that is fluidly connected to an input supply to the valve, and an outlet.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2015Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventor: DAVID DEURLOO

Patent number: 8851195Abstract: A differential dry pipe valve is provided having a body including an inlet chamber having an inlet port, an exit chamber having an exit port, and a gasket flange positioned between the inlet and exit chambers facing the exit port, the inlet and exit ports being substantially aligned. The valve also includes a gasket attached to the gasket flange and an openable cover hingedly attached to the body. The gasket has an inner water lip in fluid communication with the inlet chamber and an outer air lip surrounding the water lip. The spacing between the water lip and air lip varies. The air and water lips are coaxial. The cover is configured to be sealingly engaged with the seal when in a closed position and to be sealingly disengaged in an open position when the pressure in the exit chamber is lower than the pressure in the inlet chamber. When the cover is in the open position, a direction of a path between the inlet and exit ports is substantially unaltered.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2011Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: The Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc.Inventor: David Deurloo

Patent number: 7673695Abstract: A dry/deluge valve for an automatic sprinkler system. The valve includes a main chamber having an input port for receiving fluid from a supply line and an output port. A clapper assembly is installed in the main chamber for sealing the input port. The clapper assembly includes a threaded valve seat configured to be screwed into a wall of the main chamber, so as to be in communication with the input port. The assembly further includes a collar configured to receive the valve seat, wherein the collar is held in position by the valve seat. A clapper configured to seal the input port, in cooperation with the valve seat, is hinged to the collar, and a lever also is hinged to the collar and is movable between a first position in which the clapper is held closed by the lever and a second position in which the clapper is allowed to open.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2006Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: The Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc.Inventor: David Deurloo
