Abstract: A vertical magnetic recording medium and a method for evaluating the same by which the thickness of the micro-crystalline texture part occupying the ferromagnetic layer in the recording layer of the medium can be grasped quantitatively along with the distribution thereof in the thickness direction and the crystal magnetic anisotropy constant Kugrain of magnetic crystal grains in a columnar texture part can be determined simultaneously.
