  • Publication number: 20100020970
Abstract: A system and method for using cameras to download data to cell phones or other devices as an alternative to CDMA/GPRS, BlueTooth, Infrared or cable connections. The data is encoded as a sequence of images such as 2D bar codes, which can be displayed in any flat panel display, acquired by a camera, and decoded by software embedded in the device. The decoded data is written to a file. The system and method meet the following challenges: (1) To encode arbitrary data as a sequence of images. (2) To process captured images under various lighting variations and perspective distortions while maintaining real time performance. (3) To decode the processed images robustly even when partial data is lost.

  • Publication number: 20070257934
Abstract: A system and method for using camera enabled personal digital assistant (PDA) or cell phone hardware to provide enhanced imaging capabilities. The system and method enhances images taken on a mobile camera device to enable the mobile device, for example, a personal digital assistant (PDA) or cell phone, to provide enhanced imaging capabilities. A method comprising the steps of pre-calculating a pixel value at each point on a grid and storing said pre-calculated pixel values in a lookup table, using one bit to represent each pixel in said image, quantizing said image at a small step interval such that each pixel in the image corresponds to one point on said grid, and interpolating said image through a memory-indexing process. The method may further comprise the step of performing clustering based contrast enhancement on said image prior to said step of using one bit to represent each pixel in said image.

  • Publication number: 20040013302
Abstract: A document processing system for use in identifying a segmented document includes a data store of layout graph models that are classified and/or labeled. A matching module makes a determination of a match between a layout graph sample for the segmented document and a particular layout graph model. The matching module uses a correlator to generate an identified, segmented document that is classified and/or labeled based on the segmented document, the layout graph model, and the determination of a match.
