  • Patent number: 7872637
Abstract: A system and method for tracking a laser spot on a projected computer screen image computes a projective transformation matrix using the projected computer screen image electronically captured in a frame of image data. The projective transformation matrix is computed by fitting a polygon to a contour of each graphical object in the frame of image data and determining whether the polygon for each graphical object satisfies a set of predefined parameters to find a candidate polygon that corresponds to an outline of the projected computer screen image in the frame of image data.

  • Publication number: 20070242277
Abstract: An optical navigation system includes an illumination system, an image sensor, and a processing system. The illumination system directs a beam of output light toward an object so that a first portion of the output light beam reflects off the object front surface to form a first reflected light beam and a second portion of the output light beam reflects off the object back surface to form a second reflected light beam, where the first and second reflected light beams overlap in a region of space to produce an interference pattern. The image sensor captures images of the interference pattern. The processing system produces motion signals indicative of movement of the image sensor in relation to the object from comparisons of ones of the images captured by the image sensor.

  • Publication number: 20070103550
Abstract: One or more optical motion sensors are connected to a central processing device. At least one of the motion sensors captures representations of a region, such as images or patterns that represent the region. Each optical motion sensor processes its representations to generate resulting data that are used to detect whether an object moved in relation to a respective motion sensor. Any relative motion may be detected by each optical motion sensor or by the central processing device using resulting data received from the optical motion sensor or sensors.
