  • Publication number: 20170021208
Abstract: A fire protection device for use in isolating a building structure having several sides from an external fire includes a plurality of folded fire-resistant protective covers and a releasing mechanism. Each protective cover has dimensions large enough to cover one of the several sides of the building structure. The protective covers are composed of knit, woven or nonwoven textiles composed of flame resistant fibers including cotton, polyester, polyamide, viscose, themoset fibers, inorganic fibers and carbon fibers with a fabric areal weight between 20 grams per square meter to 300 grams per square meter. The textiles are impregnated with a fire resistant material which absorbs heat, such as aluminum trihydrate (ATH) or other hydrated metal salts, borates, silicates, phosphates, bromides and chlorides, moisture absorbing polymers such as poly-acrylates and starch derivatives so that the amount of impregnated material is less than 50% of the fabric weight. The releasing mechanism releases each protective cover.

  • Publication number: 20170015439
Abstract: A portable runway includes a sheet of thermoplastic composite materials that is rolled out to form the runway track and then heat cured in place to form a rigid. Suitable composite materials are glass, carbon or aramid fibers are co-mingled with thermoplastic fibers such as polyamides, polyolefins, polyesters, polyacrylates and polyimides so that the pliable co-mingled materials is in either fiber bundle (“tow”), yarn, braid, fabric or non-woven forms are layed down on the pregraded earth by unrolling, unstacking, unfolding, dispesing or spraying. Once in place the composite materials are consolidated and hardened by application of heat. The width of the surface of said portable runway may range from 1 meter to 25 meters. Anchoring pegs may be inserted along the edges of said portable runway prior to curing with the thickness of the surface ranging from 1 cm to 50 cm and the areal weight of the surface ranging from 50 grams per square meter (GSM) to 2,000 GSM.

  • Publication number: 20170007865
Abstract: An intelligent method of fighting a forest or brush fire in a remote area including the steps of targeting the remote area by means of an aerial surveillance device and generating a map of the forest or brush fire. The method also includes the step of delivering a plurality of containers to the remote area. Each container contains a fire retardant material and an explosive device. Each of container has a GPS locating device. a position transmitting device and a remote detonating device electronically coupled to the explosive device. The method further includes the steps of locating the position of each container, selecting according to a plan which of the containers are to be selected to be detonated and remotely detonating the selected containers. The forest or brush fire can be either extinguished or contained in an intelligent manner. An individual generates the plan according to which of said containers are to be selected to be detonated in order to maximize effectiveness of said intelligent method.

  • Publication number: 20160021947
Abstract: The present invention is a protective garment for individuals which includes a hoodie with a hood and a pair of sleeves, a head protective element and elbow, shoulder, wrist, back and torso protective pads. The head protective element is coupled to the hood of the hoodie by a fastening system. Each of the elbow protective pads is coupled to the hoodie by a fastening system. Protective elements are spacer fabrics filled with a shear thickening (also known as dilatant) gel having flexibility and drape-ability so as not to degrade the natural “cool” look of a standard garment.

  • Publication number: 20140202448
Abstract: A solar energy collection array includes a plurality of individual mirrors and a plurality of receiver facets. The mirrors form a fixed multifaceted curved collection of mirrors. Each individual mirror is less than 1 square meter and is constructed of inexpensive and easily replaceable surfaces. The receiver facets are disposed as fixed curved multifaceted receivers. Each receiver facet is less than 1 square meter and is constructed of inexpensive and easily replaceable surfaces and wherein each individual mirror is aimed at one of the receiver facets so that each receiver facet is optically aligned with one of the individual mirrors thereby creating a small mirror multiple target. Different facets are utilized at different times of day and season based on the sun's position.

  • Publication number: 20140010619
Abstract: In an airfield with a short bi-directional runway and a long bi-directional runway intersecting with each other perpendicularly a system for storing and launching a plurality of airplanes includes a plurality of platforms, a plurality of rectangular cages and a frame. Onto each platform one airplane may be placed. Each cage has an opening into which one platform and one airplane are inserted through the opening. The frame has a plurality of slots and is disposed in ground beneath the airfield. One rectangular cage may be inserted into one of the slots. An elevator is disposed adjacent to the frame and has a bottom platform and an opening which may be aligned with the opening of one of the slots.
