  • Publication number: 20200124691
Abstract: Imaging protocols are modified in real time through implementation of artificial intelligence. Key steps include: inputting of medical images and patient data; performing artificial intelligence analysis; outputting a potentially modified radiological imaging examination protocol; if applicable, an option for the radiologist to review the patient data, images acquired and the AI's potentially modified radiological imaging examination protocol; delivery of the modified radiological imaging examination protocol to the imaging device; and, if applicable, an option for the radiologist to provide feedback and re-train the artificial intelligence algorithm. Further, some of the images that are utilized by the AI system include processed images, such as segmented and filtered volume rendered images.

  • Publication number: 20200110268
Abstract: An optical system that deploys micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) scanners to contemporaneously generate CG images and to scan a terrain of a real-world environment. An illumination engine emits a first spectral bandwidth and a second spectral bandwidth into an optical assembly along a common optical path. The optical assembly then separates the spectral bandwidth by directing the first spectral bandwidth onto an image-generation optical path and the second spectral bandwidth onto a terrain-mapping optical path. The optical system deploys the MEMS scanners to generate CG images by directing the first spectral bandwidth within the image-generation optical path and also to irradiate a terrain by directing the second spectral bandwidth within the terrain-mapping optical path. Accordingly, the disclosed system provides substantial reductions in both weight and cost for systems such as, for example, augmented reality and virtual reality systems.

  • Publication number: 20200049400
Abstract: An apparatus includes a high side heat exchanger, a load, a compressor, a belt, a first bin, a second bin, and a controller. The high side heat exchanger removes heat from a refrigerant. The load uses the refrigerant to cool an enclosed space. The compressor compresses the refrigerant. The first and second bins are coupled to the belt and positioned within the enclosed space. The controller receives a first message, determines that the first bin should be selected, and cycles the belt to move the first bin to a retrieval location within the enclosed space. The controller also receives a second message, determines that the second bin should be selected, and cycles the belt to move the second bin to the retrieval location.

  • Publication number: 20200033981
Abstract: Method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for touch and speech interface includes structure and/or function whereby at least one processor: (i) receives an input from a touch sensitive input device; (ii) establishes a touch speech time window with respect to the received touch input; (iv) receives an input from a speech input device; (v) determines whether the received speech input is present in a global dictionary; (vi) if the received speech input is present in the global dictionary, determines whether the received speech input has been received within the established touch speech time window; and (vii) if the received speech input has been received within the established touch speech time window, activate an action corresponding to both the received touch input and the received speech input.

  • Publication number: 20200022774
Abstract: Deformation of mobile soft tissue is detected and represented in a three-dimensional medical image based on radiographically-detectable markers that are implanted in the tissue. Locations of the markers are co-registered with locations within the tissue. Sensed changes in relative locations of the markers are used to calculate relative changes in locations within the tissue due to deformation. The changes are used to calculate coordinated multi-voxel manipulations, such that a real-time volumetric medical imaging dataset is developed. By co-registering the operating room coordinate system and the volumetric medical imaging coordinate system, depth-3-dimensional augmented reality viewing of this real-time volumetric medical imaging dataset can be achieved, thereby improving the surgeon's understanding of underlying surgical anatomy and ultimately improving surgical outcomes.

  • Patent number: 10493597
Abstract: There is described a method, apparatus and shaping tool for shaping a workpiece. The tool comprises a flexible support surface on which are mounted a number of rigid pellets (84) carrying abrasive material. The tool is driven, in contact with the workpiece surface (S), to perform a ductile grinding operation which results in a finished surface of reduced roughness as compared to conventional grinding operations, while achieving significantly higher material removal rates than comparable ultra-precision grinding techniques. A procedure for preparing the tool for operation by conditioning the tool against a conditioning surface is also described. An exemplary application for the method and apparatus is in the preparation of moulds for moulding curved glass components for use in display screens, in which process a silicon carbide mould cavity surface is shaped using the method to produce a mould cavity surface with a smooth surface finish.

  • Patent number: 10422989
Abstract: A near-eye-display device includes a pair of fluid-filled lenses. The power of an inner lens of the pair of lenses can be set to position a focal plane for a virtual object from infinity to a predefined distance. The optical power of an outer lens of the pair of lenses is set to cancel out the optical power of the inner lens. A single actuator coupled to a reservoir pumps fluid into or out of the lenses to change their optical power. When the actuator is activated, fluid flows into one of the lenses in a pair and out of the other lens in the pair. The amount of fluid in each lens in a pair of lenses is thereby maintained to cancel out the optical power of the other lens. A single actuator can also be utilized to modify the power of two or more pairs of lenses.

  • Patent number: 10409074
Abstract: Near-to-eye devices with steerable phased arrays are provided. In some configurations, a device comprises waveguides, e.g., color plates, that are individually formed to couple a corresponding color output of a micro-display engine and project an image into a human vision system. Some configurations include steerable phased arrays for generating light defining a field of view of image content. The generated light is aligned with light from a real-world view to create an output that concurrently displays the real-world view with the field of view of the image content. The light from the steerable phased arrays is directed through one or more waveguides to an output region of the one or more waveguides. The light from the real-world view can pass through transparent portions of waveguides in a manner that aligns a rendering of the image content with the light from the real-world view to create augmented reality views.
