    Abstract: Embodiments herein describe spectroscopy systems that use an unmodulated reference optical signal to mitigate noise, or for other advantages. In one embodiment, the unmodulated reference optical signal is transmitted through the same vapor cell as a modulated pump optical signal. As such, the unmodulated reference optical signal experiences absorption by the vapor, which converts laser phase noise to amplitude noise like the other optical signals passing through the vapor cell. In one embodiment, the unmodulated reference optical signal has an optical path in the gas cell that is offset (or non-crossing) from the optical path of the modulated pump optical signal. The unmodulated reference optical signal allows removal or mitigation of the noise on the other optical signal.

    Abstract: Electrical wiring trunking includes at least first and second cable running compartments extending parallel to each other in a general lengthwise direction of the trunking and separated from each other by a fixed insulative partition. The partition includes at least one communication opening between the first and second compartments. An electrical insulation box has a lateral wall with a lateral access opening mounted in the first compartment so that its lateral access opening coincides with the communication opening. The space inside the box forms an extension of the second compartment into the first compartment which is electrically insulated from the first compartment and receives an electrical accessory to be connected to electrical cables running in the second compartment.

    Abstract: An optical filter is formed as a rectangular parallelepiped having a plurality of beveled edges formed thereon, preferably three non-intersecting beveled edges formed at an angle of 45 degrees. The filter is formed of a clear, transparent, durable, shock-resistant material, preferably abrasion-resistant Lucite.TM. acrylic resin (trademark of the Du Pont Corporation) impregnated with a subtractive dye. The material has a refractive index closely matching that of glass, but is tougher and more shock resistant. The filter dimensions are in the ratio of small whole integers, specifically 2:3:4, for example, 1.times.1.5.times.2 inches. The beveled edges increase the residence time of light within the filter. By positioning differently colored filters of different orientations in optical series, many different hues may be produced.
