Abstract: An equine boot comprising: a sole for receiving a bottom of a horse’s hoof; an upper which, in use, receives at least a portion of a wall of the hoof; and a retention means at a rear of the boot which, in use, is generally proximate a cleft of the hoof, the retention means being configured for engagement with a securing strap, which strap is securable to the boot and hoof for retaining the boot thereto.

Abstract: There is disclosed a securing strap for an equine hoof boot, the strap being configured for securing the boot to the hoof at a location above a horses coronary band and for fixing to the boot at generally central locations on the front and rear of the boot, wherein the strap has two sections, each section extending either side of the horses pastern bone, the two sections coming together at a location above the horses coronary band for securement to the hoof. There is also disclosed an equine boot comprising such a strap extending between ventral and dorsal positions of the boot to secure the boot to the hoof.

Abstract: An equine boot including a sole member having an interior for receiving a bottom of a hoof; and an upper for retaining the boot on the hoof, the upper having dorsal apertures such that when the boot is worn, bulbs of the hoof protrude through respective apertures. The apertures at least partially define a bulb-engaging element for engaging the peripheries of the bulbs so as to retain the bulbs in the apertures and impede rotation of the boot relative to the hoof.

The protuberances (3) are arranged substantially according to a rectangular grid that overlies only a portion of the underside of the overlay (2). Each protuberance (3) is approximately triangular in cross-section and has a base portion (11) that is fixed in any suitable manner to the overlay (2). The region (12) that would otherwise be the apex of the triangle is truncated and rounded. The protuberances (3) are made from gas-filled plastic so that each protuberance (3) is formed as a longitudinally extending, hollow body.

Abstract: An equine multi-purpose protector boot comprising: (a) a sole member rigid enough to resist lateral movement of the hoof with an upwardly depending rim extending around its periphery at least at the toe and at each side, the inner surface of the rim being substantially vertical at least in the region of the sides: (b) at least one flexible side flap located at each side of the hoof, attached to or integral with the sole member; (c) an outer compressive cover provided with means to force the side flap into conformation with the shape of the hoof; (d) a flexible heel member attached to the rear of the sole member and including at least one fastening strap (16) adapted to pass around the pastern bone within the range of 2 to 3.5 cm above the coronary band.
