  • Patent number: 3973613
Abstract: An improved tire reinforcement construction is disclosed. The construction includes a folded one-piece reinforced tread ply or belt, resulting in a two-ply belt structure. Elastomeric spacer members may be included in the vicinity of the folds to increase the radius of curvature at the folds. This construction simplifies belted tire assembly and results in improved tire wear characteristics. Glass fiber reinforced material is particularly suited for the folded belt.
