  • Patent number: 6369003
Abstract: A process for improvement of the soil by reducing microbially formed ethylene in the soil by bringing compounds which bind ethylene or of which it is known that they inhibit ethylene biosynthesis between S-adenosyl-L-methionine and 1-aminocyclopropane-carboxylic acid or 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid and ethylene respectively, into the soil zone relevant for the root growth of higher plants and allowing them to act there on the soil microorganisms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 27, 1994
Date of Patent: April 9, 2002
    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Wilhelm Rademacher, Helmut Walter, Eberhard Peter Schott, Dale R. Carlson, Lisa P. Schell, Charles W. Helpert, David E. Millhouse, William M. Fletcher, Hans J. von Amsberg, Matthias Bratz
  • Patent number: 5654255
Abstract: Plant growth regulator (PGR) compositions include a plant growth regulating effective mixture of (A) a N,N-dimethyl piperidinium salt (preferably, mepiquat chloride), (B) a hexitol (preferably, myo-inositol), and optionally (C) a compound which promotes cytokinesis in plant cells (i.e., a cytokinin). The hexitol and cytokinin are most preferably provided collectively in the composition by the presence of an effective amount of coconut milk. Synergistic results in terms of enhanced cotton lint yields are obtained by applying the PGR compositions of this invention to growing cotton plants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1996
Date of Patent: August 5, 1997
    Assignee: BASF Corporation
Inventors: Thomas D. O'Neal, David E. Millhouse, Wilhelm Rademacher
