  • Patent number: 6945579
Abstract: A glove box door assembly for a glove box provided in an opening of an instrument panel of a vehicle defining an engagement surface includes a door body rotatably attached to an instrument panel of a vehicle about an axis of rotation. The door body has an inner surface and an outer surface. A bin extends outwardly from the inner surface of the door body, and includes an outer wall. A damper extends outwardly from the outer wall of the bin, and includes a damper surface. The glove box door assembly is movable between a closed position and an open position. The damper surface is disposed at an acute angle relative to a plane substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation, and engages an engagement surface of an opening of the instrument panel to decelerate the glove box door assembly when the glove box door assembly moves from the closed position to the open position.

  • Patent number: 5881793
Abstract: Several shade assembly embodiments are disclosed which allow the shade assembly to be mounted in a vehicle interior while accommodating varying interior widths. In one embodiment, spring-biased latches engage a depression in an outer lateral surface of the roller assembly. In a related embodiment, a release button is included on the roller assembly. In an alternative embodiment, a U-shaped spring is biased axially outwardly of the roller assembly to engage a mounting surface on an opposed wall of the vehicle interior. In another embodiment, an end member comprises attachment structure having a lower member biased radially away from a longitudinal axis of an upper member. A bracket receives the end member and has an opening that is smaller than the expanded distance of the end member when the lower member is biased away from the upper member. The upper and lower members can be biased together such that the end member may be moved into the bracket.

  • Patent number: 5211352
Abstract: A dual tension safety belt retracting device comprising: a frame (10), a spool (70b) rotatably mounted on the frame, for storing safety belt webbing (84). The device including first and second ratchet wheels (74b, 76b) and an outer tube (112), extending into and connecting the first and second ratchet wheels. An inner shaft (130) extends through and is rotatably disposed in the outer tube (112); a main, high torque (140) rewind spring is provided to apply a rewind bias to the inner shaft (130). A low torque, rewind spring (158) connects the outer tube (112) to a control ratchet wheel (154); a cap (170 interconnects the control ratchet wheel (154) to the inner shaft (130).
