  • Patent number: 9484650
Abstract: A self-adjusting mated pair connector having a conductive flexible wire and a retaining ring to facilitate electrical connections through the mated pair connector. A receptacle assembly rigidly and electrically connects a portion of the receptacle assembly to a receptacle PCB. A plug assembly rigidly and electrically connects a portion of the plug assembly to a plug PCB. During mating of the receptacle assembly and the plug assembly, the flexible wire and retaining ring allow for floating or movement of a portion of the receptacle assembly and/or plug assembly without stressing or damaging the rigid electrical connections with the receptacle PCB and the plug PCB or the connector interfaces. Electrical conductivity can be maintained without needing to angle the entire receptacle assembly and/or plug assembly during misalignment in the mating process. Impedance matching and low inductance of the mated pair connector may allow for desired electrical performance.

  • Patent number: 9373909
Abstract: A connector includes a receptacle having a body defining apertures and having a mating face and socket contacts each defining an opening aligned with an aperture. The connector also includes a plug having an outer casing defining a cavity and having a mating end and contacts positioned within the cavity and coupled to the outer casing, each having a pin tip. The plug also includes a pin protection plate slidably coupled to the outer casing, enclosing at least a portion of each contact within the cavity, and defining pin guides each aligned with one of the contacts. When the mating end is aligned with the mating face and force is applied to the outer casing towards the body, the pin protection plate slides into the cavity and the pin tip of the contacts extends beyond the pin protection plate into a socket contact via one of the apertures.

  • Patent number: 9325099
Abstract: Coupling system housings including a receptacle housing with a domed protective door and a male coupler housing that may be used to actuate the receptacle housing door are disclosed. The receptacle housing may be mounted in a receiving structure. The receptacle housing is configured with a dome-shaped door that conceals and protects the connectors of an assembled receptacle when in the closed position. The receptacle housing also includes a biasing mechanism that urges the door to a closed position and maintains the door in its closed position when a male coupler is not mated to the receptacle. The male coupler housing is configured with an ergonomic handle suitable for one handed operation of the male coupler. The male coupler housing may be used to actuate the receptacle housing door during insertion and mating of and assembled male coupler to an assembled receptacle.
