Abstract: In an implementation, a software application on a computing device directs the device to extract audio data from a media file comprising the audio data and video data, generate a trim proposal based on analysis of speech in the audio data, and display a visualization of the trim proposal. A user may supply input comprising a selection of at least a portion of the visualization of the trim proposal, in response to which the device trims the media file.

Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to computing devices and methods for authenticating a user. In one example, a method for authenticating a user at a computing device comprises activating a fingerprint reader integrated into a power key of the computing device, and activating a visual indicator at the power key to indicate a status of the fingerprint reader. Based at least in part on activating the fingerprint reader, a standby function of the power key is disabled. A fingerprint of the user is received via the fingerprint reader and used to authenticate the user. After authenticating the user, the visual indicator is deactivated and the standby function of the power key is re-enabled.

Abstract: Context menus are described. In one or more implementations, an option is displayed in a user interface by a computing device, the option selectable to cause a representation of an object to be added to a context menu. In response to selection of the option, the context menu is configured by the computing device to include the representation of the object such that the representation of the object is selectable to launch the object by the computing device.

The device operates places the cursor coarsely and refines the cursor placement upon further input from the user. Text may be selected using a gripper associated with the cursor. The user interface allows text selection without occluding the text being selected with the user's finger or the gripper. For selecting text in a multi-line block of text, a dynamic safety zone is implemented to simplify text selection for the user.
