Patent number: 12030429Abstract: A light system comprising: a first light blade; a second light blade; a plurality of first light sources directing light into the first light blade in a first direction; a plurality of second light sources directing light into the first light blade, the second light blade, or both so that the light exiting the first light blade, the second light blade, or both extends in a second direction that is substantially normal to the first direction away from a vehicle housing the light system; wherein the plurality of first light sources and the plurality of second light sources provide a light function; and wherein the plurality of first light sources, the plurality of second light sources, or both are configured to illuminate in sequence so that the first light blade, the second light blade, or both are illuminated from a first edge toward a second edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2022Date of Patent: July 9, 2024Assignee: Valeo VisionInventors: Colby Darlage, Brant Potter, David Egly

Patent number: 11713857Abstract: A light system comprising: a light blade comprising: a first surface and a second surface; a bi-directional light system configured to direct first lights into the light blade so that the first lights extend out of the first surface of the light blade to generate a first light direction, and the bi-directional light system is configured to direct second lights into the light blade so that the second lights extend out of the second surface of the light blade to generate a second light direction; and wherein the first surface and the second surface are substantially perpendicular to one another.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2022Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Assignee: Valeo VisionInventors: Colby Darlage, Brant Potter, David Egly

Publication number: 20080094842Abstract: A lamp assembly with a thin actual dimension providing an image of greater apparent depth may be formed from a light source, reflector and a partially reflective and partially transmissive lens. The mirrored surface is oriented axially to face a field to be illuminated. A partially light reflective and partially light transmissive lens having a first surface faces the reflector. The lens is offset from the mirrored surface, thereby defining a cavity intermediate the reflector and the lens. The mirrored surface and the first surface of the lens are smoothly bowed with respect of one to the other. At least one LED (light emitting diode) light source capable of emitting visible light, is positioned near the cavity and oriented to direct light into the cavity intermediate the reflector and the lens. Because of the bowing, the multiple reflected images are offset inducing an optical illusion of depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: VALEO SYLVANIA LLCInventors: Robert Lee King, David Egly, Brant Potter

Publication number: 20060133095Abstract: A projection lamp (10) suitable for an automotive headlight has a housing (12) with an hermetically sealed light source (14) positioned at one end (16) and a lens (18) positioned at another opposite end (20). The lens (18) includes a peripheral flange (22) that engages a flange (24) on end (20) of housing (14). A bezel (26) is positioned at the end (20) of the housing (14) and is attached thereto. The bezel (26) includes a lens receiving opening (28) therein and an environmental sealing gasket (30) is positioned, under compression, between an outer peripheral location (32) on the lens (18) and an internal flange (34) surrounding the lens receiving opening (28) in the bezel (26).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2006Publication date: June 22, 2006Inventors: Dirk-Martin Skirha, David Egly, Sanders Brott, Robert King
