  • Patent number: 4254928
Abstract: An elevator for raising and lowering a hospital stretcher or the like without binding. The stabilized elevator has a pair of intermeshed timing gears at each end of the elevator which are connected by horizontal axles that are rotationally secured to a first telescoping section of the elevator. Each timing gear intermeshes with a vertical toothed rack secured to a second telescoping section adjacent each gear. The intermeshing timing gears and racks cooperate to keep the telescoping elevator from binding, particularly when the stretcher or the like has a heavier load at one end than the other.

  • Patent number: 4236261
Abstract: A patient stretcher, bed, or the like having a tiltable mattress support section driven by an actuator having a release clutch mechanism. A sliding joint between the tiltable top section and the actuator permits the clutch to disengage at various angular positions of the tiltable top which are controlled by an adjustable limit stop.

  • Patent number: 4186456
Abstract: A patient restraining rail system for a bed, stretcher, or the like which includes a rail pivotally connected to a vertically adjustable rail support.

  • Patent number: 4180002
Abstract: A treatment table with a tiltable top for veterinary or hospital use. The tiltable top has a tilt locking mechanism that rigidly anchors the top with two pairs of laterally spaced pivot joints that prevent twisting of the table top when in a tilted position. A third pair of laterally spaced pivot joints connects the top to the base.

  • Patent number: 4157070
Abstract: An auxiliary shelving adapter for use with a shelving assembly having at least one structural shelf supported by shelf supporting members such as corner posts or rails. Each adapter includes a pair of hangers adapted to be suspended from the structural shelf in spaced relationship inboard of an adjacent pair of corner posts at one end of the assembly. In addition, each adapter has a horizontally-elongated bracket joined to the hangers and adapted to support one end of an auxiliary shelf beneath the structural shelf. Abutment elements disposed at the lower end of each adapter engage the inboard surfaces of a pair of end posts to brace the adapter, maintain it in a plane generally parallel with such end posts, and securely but removably hold the end of the auxiliary shelf against horizontal endwise movement.

  • Patent number: 4037291
Abstract: A self-aligning swivel caster for use on carts and the like, the caster being equipped with a member for locking and releasing the caster with respect to swivel movement. The locking and releasing member, which can selectively be oriented in an operative or an inoperative position, is friction and gravity actuated. The structural relationship of the caster and the member is such that automatic camming and actuation of the member occurs as the caster is swiveled from an unlocked position into a locked position or from a locked position into an unlocked position. During actuation of the locking and releasing member, the caster makes direct contact with the member until the member finally drops into the proper position to either restrict or facilitate further swivel movement of the caster.

  • Patent number: 3956977
Abstract: A fume hood is provided with a plurality of removable enclosure panels which cover various components of the hood to which access is necessary from time to time. The panels which must be removed most often are each removable independently of the other panels, and the fasteners for all of the panels are hidden.
