  • Patent number: 4551633
Abstract: A grounding system for grounding the neutral conductor of an electrical distribution system. A point of reference potential with respect to true earth ground potential is provided. An amplifier has a first input connected to the reference potential and a second input connected to the grounded neutral conductor. The amplifier provides an output signal indicative of the difference between the undesired stray voltage on the grounded neutral conductor and the reference potential. The amplifier develops the output signal across the secondary winding of an output transformer. One terminal of the output transformer is connected to the grounded neutral conductor of the distribution system. The other output terminal of the transformer is connected to true earth ground by way of an auxiliary ground path having a finite resistance.

  • Patent number: 4314093
Abstract: A splice connector for connecting adjacent ends of primary distribution system cables. The connector includes a unitary splice body of molded elastomeric material including a generally longitudinal portion for receiving the cable ends from opposite sides thereof. The assembly includes a semiconductive insert sleeve for surrounding the conductor connection of the cable ends, and a substantially continuous semiconductive outer jacket. The jacket and insert sleeve are separated by a portion of insulating material the axially outer ends of which extend past the ends of the insert sleeve for engaging insulated portions of the cable ends. The insert sleeve is provided with a plurality of axially and circumferentially extending and radially inwardly directed protuberances which yieldably engage the crimped connection of the cable conductors. The ends of the jacket include similar protuberances which engage the conductive jacket portions of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4279461
Abstract: The wedge connector includes a longitudinally extending spring member which is generally C-shaped in cross section and which is tapered along its longitudinal length. A correspondingly tapered and longitudinally extending wedge member is insertable into the spring member and includes a pair of arcuately shaped retaining extensions along one side of the wedge member. The wedge member includes a plurality of longitudinally extending threaded bore holes for receiving a bolt which extends perpendicularly through the spring member wall. Accordingly, the wedge connector can be bolt-assembled or impact-tool-assembled by respectively reversing the position of the wedge member.
