  • Patent number: 11014093
Abstract: A system includes an enclosure about a path toward a physical damaging system configured for rendering media storage devices inoperable. A scanning system obtains identifying information of a media storage device in the path. A barrier is selectively movable between an accessible state in which media storage device introduction into the enclosure is permitted and a blocking state in which such introduction into the enclosure is prevented. A locking mechanism locks the barrier in the blocking state in response to the barrier being moved to the blocking state. The locking mechanism unlocks the barrier and permits a shift to the accessible state subsequent to the scanning system obtaining the identifying information and subsequent to an action triggered based on the identifying information obtained from the scanning system.

  • Patent number: 9983541
Abstract: A replaceable imaging basket for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one embodiment includes a frame having a positioning slot that is open at a top of the frame for receiving a replaceable unit. An electrical connector is positioned on an inner side of the frame adjacent to the positioning slot. The electrical connector includes an electrical contact on a front of the electrical connector that faces the positioning slot. The electrical connector includes a pair of outer guides and a pair of inner guides on opposite sides of the electrical contact. The inner guides are spaced inward from the outer guides. A top portion of a front surface of each of the outer guides tapers rearward away from the positioning slot as they extend upward. A top portion of a rear surface of each of the inner guides tapers forward toward the positioning slot as they extend upward.

  • Publication number: 20170102670
Abstract: A replaceable unit for an electrophotographic image forming device according to another example embodiment includes a frame and a handle exposed on a top portion of the frame to allow a user to carry the replaceable unit by holding the handle. The handle is movable between a raised position and a lowered position. A latch positioned on the frame is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. The handle is operatively connected to the latch such that lifting of the handle from the lowered position to the raised position to carry the replaceable unit moves the latch from the latched position to the unlatched position.

  • Patent number: 8948659
Abstract: A unit for use with a removable toner cartridge of an image forming device according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for holding toner. An inlet port is positioned to receive toner from the toner cartridge. The inlet port is connected to the reservoir to allow the toner received from the toner cartridge to enter the reservoir. A shutter is slidably movable between a closed position and an open position. A biasing member biases the shutter toward the closed position. The shutter includes a first engagement surface positioned to receive a first engagement member of the toner cartridge to begin to open the shutter as the toner cartridge is inserted in the image forming device. The shutter also includes a second engagement surface positioned to receive a second engagement member of the toner cartridge to move the shutter a remaining distance to the open position.

  • Patent number: 6775498
Abstract: A bracket to mount a charge roller and a blade against a photoconductive drum within an image forming apparatus. Bracket may include a pair of guides that extend outward to receive the ends of the charge roller. A biasing device may be positioned to bias the charge roller against the photoconductive drum. The guides may include an opening sized to allow the charge roller to move and maintain contact with the photoconductive drum. A mounting surface may be positioned on the bracket for receiving adhesive to mount the blade. In one embodiment, the bracket is constructed of an electrically conductive material such that a charge introduced to the bracket is delivered to the charge roller.
