  • Publication number: 20050125512
Abstract: A system and method for online configuration of a measurement system. The user may access a server over a network and specify a desired task, e.g., a measurement task, and receive programs and/or configuration information which are usable to configure the user's measurement system hardware (and/or software) to perform the desired task. Additionally, if the user does not have the hardware required to perform the task, the required hardware may be sent to the user, along with programs and/or configuration information. The hardware may be reconfigurable hardware, such as an FPGA or a processor/memory based device. In one embodiment, the required hardware may be pre-configured to perform the task before being sent to the user. In another embodiment, the system and method may provide a graphical program in response to receiving the user's task specification, where the graphical program may be usable by the measurement system to perform the task.

  • Publication number: 20050117570
Abstract: A novel system is presented for providing computer telephony services to remote, mobile users. In one form, a server communicates wirelessly with a remote, mobile, personal communication subsystem that includes a wireless voice communication device and a wireless data communication device, through a voice channel and a data channel, respectively. Telephonic communications passing between the wireless voice communication device and the server are controlled by commands and/or informed by communications through the wireless data communication device. The voice channel may carry incoming and/or outgoing calls distributed by an ACD, the calls being accompanied by information transmitted through the data channel that might traditionally have been presented in a “screen pop” or other informational display. In another form, users of the subsystems request and/or receive updates through the data channel regarding the availability status of one or more other users of the system.

  • Publication number: 20020174264
Abstract: A system and method are described for automatically detecting devices or instruments connected to a host computer system and obtaining and installing driver software for the devices or instruments, including driver software for traditional instruments, e.g. an oscilloscope, connected to the host computer system via an external bus. The method may also include automatically detecting particular software applications installed on the host computer system and obtaining and installing driver software intended for use with the installed software applications. Also, a system and method for automatically detecting devices connected to a host computer system and/or detecting software applications installed on the host computer system and automatically obtaining documentation related to the connected devices and installed software applications. A first computer may provide information regarding detected hardware and/or software to a server computer.

  • Patent number: 5743854
Abstract: A method and apparatus for evoking epileptiform activity in patients with drug resistant epilepsy, as part of a presurgical evaluation procedure are disclosed. The apparatus includes a cranial helmet, for generating a DC magnetic field of a sufficient strength to evoke epileptiform activity, and means for localizing the regions of the patient's brain where said epileptiform activity has been evoked. In the preferred embodiment, the magnetic field strength varies between 1 milliTesla and 2 milliTesla, and is generated by two generally similar coils which are coaxially separated, and which are wound on corresponding thermoplastic members to form the helmet. The desired magnetic field strength is produced at about the middle of the distance between the two coils, in general registration with the hippocampus region of the brain. In an exemplary embodiment, the localizing means includes implantable Foramen Ovale electrodes for sensing the evoked and natural epileptic firings.

  • Patent number: 4732147
Abstract: A plastic support frame for a paediatric naso-tracheal tube comprising a planar pad and an arm which projects from the pad with an adjustable length. The pad has two parallel channels of circular section which extend across the entire width of the pad. Three lateral channels extend between the channels and are located off-center across the width of the pad. The arm has two parallel limbs that are a snap fit in the channels, and a lateral cross piece that is either a snap fit in one of the lateral channels or extends along the rear edge of the pad. The arm has a flange at one end which receives a connector for the tube and has a lug that prevents rotation of the connector.
