  • Publication number: 20240077023
Abstract: A thermal management system for an aircraft includes a first gas turbine engine, one or more first electric machines rotatably coupled to the first gas turbine engine, a first thermal bus, and a first heat exchanger module. The first thermal bus includes a first heat transfer fluid, with the first heat transfer fluid being in fluid communication, in a closed loop flow sequence, between the first gas turbine engine, the or each first electric machine, and the first heat exchanger. Waste heat energy generated by at least one of the first gas turbine engine, and the or each first electric machine, is transferred to the first heat transfer fluid. The first heat exchanger module includes a first flow path and a second flow path. The first flow path is configured to direct a flow of the heat transfer fluid to a first heat dissipation portion.

  • Patent number: 7125209
Abstract: The present invention provides an improvement (20) in a Davenport® automatic screw machine having a stationary spindle. The improvement broadly includes a quick-change mechanism (26) associated with the stationary spindle (22). The mechanism includes mating frusto-conical first and second surfaces (28, 31) on the spindle and tool holder, and a multi-lead threaded connection (32) between the tool holder and stationary spindle such that the tool holder may be quickly locked into mating engagement with the stationary spindle by relative rotation therebetween through a short angular distance. The invention may also include an adjustment mechanism (33) that allows the axis (x2—x2) of the tool to be aligned with the axis (x1—x1) of a spaced rotatable spindle. This adjustment mechanism includes a base member (34), an adjustment member (35), and a locking mechanism (37) for selectively holding the adjustment member in the desired position relative to the base member.

  • Patent number: 7013774
Abstract: An improved tool holder, such as a shave tool (20), broadly includes: an adapter plate (23) adapted to be mounted on the screw machine (21) for controlled movement toward and away from the workpiece (W); a tool block (24) slidably mounted on the adapter plate for relative movement relative thereto along a first axis (x—x); a slide body (25) mounted on the tool block for rotation relative thereto about a second axis (y—y), an adjustment mechanism (28) acting between the slide body and the tool block for controllably varying the angular position of the slide body relative to the tool block; and a head (26) slidably mounted on the slide body for movement relative thereto along a third axis (z—z). The head has a roller (22) and cutting tool (T) spaced from the roller.

  • Patent number: 6233111
Abstract: A cartridge library comprises plural cells for accommodating therein a cartridge of information storage media and a tape drive which transduces information relative when a cartridge is loaded into the drive. A cartridge loader (also known as the cartridge transport assembly) is mounted to the drive assembly for picking a selected cartridge from one of the cells and for inserting the selected cartridge into a cartridge slot in the drive. The drive assembly is stationary but the cartridge loader is pivotal about the drive assembly, and particularly about a pivot axis which is parallel to a center line of the data cartridge when the data cartridge is inserted into the drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a toothed transport track engageable by the cartridge transport assembly for incremental pivotal motion of the cartridge transport assembly about the pivot axis.

  • Patent number: 6144521
Abstract: An automated library which handles cartridges of information storage media includes a magazine (40) which comprises a cartridge engaging member (1428) which deflects to preclude insertion of the magazine into a magazine cavity (840) in the library frame (36) when the cartridge is improperly inserted into the magazine. The magazine defines a cell for the cartridge and comprises a magazine wall (1420) from which cell partitions (1410) extend. The cartridge engaging member (1428) is a cantilevered arm having a distal end extending in a direction into which the cartridge is insertable into the cell, and has a cartridge engaging profile whereby, when a cartridge (C) is properly inserted into the cell, the cantilevered arm does not extend beyond a reference plane but when the cartridge is not properly inserted the cantilevered arm deflects beyond a reference plane.
