Abstract: A system for displaying changeable messages in a hat is shown and described. The system may include a hat including a crown and a button affixed to the crown, and a message display removably attachable to the crown. The message display may include comprising a message panel, an attachment element configured to engage the hat by sliding into close fit with the button between the button and the crown, and a post spanning the message panel and the attachment element. The message panel may be perpendicular to the attachment element. The attachment element may include a slot including a closed proximal end proximate the message panel and an open distal end such that the slot surrounds a juncture between the crown and the button when the message display is deployed. The slot may have a relatively wide portion proximate the open distal end and a relatively narrow portion proximate the closed proximal end.
