  • Patent number: 6606957
Abstract: A watercraft has a laterally extendable deck or room extension that is extended by sliding along guides or bearings. The deck or room extension can be extended using a motor, gear pinion and rack arrangement, a hand crank arrangement, a hydraulic cylinder arrangement, or a linear motor arrangement. A keel ballast can be utilized to counterbalance the eccentric load caused by the overhanging deck or room extension.

  • Patent number: 5974376
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting multiresolution audio signals via wireless devices in a radio frequency communication system wherein audio signals are decomposed into levels of resolution. The audio signal is decomposed into levels including a base signal at a base transmission rate and one or more signal details and input into a code rate selector, controlled by either party to the communication. The base signal represents the coarsest resolution or quality of the signal. Each signal detail, when added to the base signal, improves the resolution of the signal by increasing the detail and the transmission rate. An audio receiving unit transmits a request for audio transmission to the audio transmitting unit. In response to the initial request, the base signal is transmitted to the audio receiving unit. If the base signal is insufficient, the sound quality can be increased incrementally by sending further requests to transmit additional signal detail from the code rate selector.

  • Patent number: 5940117
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting multiresolution image data via wireless devices in a radio frequency communication system wherein images are decomposed into levels of resolution. The image data is stored in discrete information blocks in an image storage unit including a base image and one or more image details. The base image represents the coarsest resolution of the image. Each image detail, when added to the base image, improves the resolution of the image. An image display unit transmits a request for image data to the image storage unit. In response to the initial request, the base image is transmitted to the image display unit. If the base image is insufficient, the resolution can be increased incrementally by sending additional image data requests to transmit additional image detail. The additional image detail is then transmitted to the image display unit and recombined with the base image to provide a higher level of resolution to the image.

  • Patent number: 5689562
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting image data for superimposed images via wireless devices in a radio frequency communication system. The original image is transmitted via a communication channel to a receiving unit. The original image is then revised to form a revised image. The revised image is compared to the original image to determine the differences between the revised image and the original image. These differences comprise a difference image which is then transmitted to the receiving party. At the receiving end, the difference image is recombined with the previously-transmitted original image to reform the revised image. In a preferred embodiment, the original images and difference images are preferably decomposed and progressively transmitted to the receiving unit in response to image data requests from the receiving unit.

  • Patent number: 4652169
Abstract: A structure, which interlocks a relatively thin sheet of material with a relatively heavy member, for example, a hub member with a sheet metal fan structure, comprises the hub on one end having a groove dividing the hub into an inner sleeve-like shoulder having a length substantially greater than the thickness of the sheet-like member, the groove has a wider base than the throat adjacent a second outwardly extending shoulder on which the member rests. The sleeve is cut into a plurality of segments with alternate segments being deformed to force a portion of the edge of the sheet-like member into the groove to form a spline connection with the hub.

  • Patent number: 4245960
Abstract: A structure for interlocking relatively thin sheet material with a relatively heavy member, such as, for example a hub member with a sheet metal fan blade structure and the like to provide a rigid durable interlocking connection therebetween, in which, in the example given, the hub member is provided with an annular sleeve which extends through a bore in the central portion of the fan blade or other member, the hub member having an upstanding flange in the form of an annular shoulder spaced rearwardly from the free end of the sleeve and of greater diameter than the latter, with the shoulder being radially spaced from the sleeve by a groove having a radial width approximately equal to the thickness of the sheet member.
