Abstract: A scanning operation is performed to measure a first capacitance of a first sensor arrangement located proximate a capacitive sensor that corresponds to a function of a device. In response to the first capacitance not exceeding a first threshold, the scanning operation measures a second capacitance of the capacitive sensor to create an output used to control the function of the device. In response to the first capacitance exceeding the first threshold, operation of the scanning operation is modified to skip measuring of the second capacitance or to refrain from transmitting the output to a host of the device for controlling the function.

Abstract: An integrated wireless and wireline telecommunication switch. The switch includes peripheral modules having both wireless and wireline peripheral devices. The switch also includes wireless and wireline software load. An aspect table allows the wireless and wireline software load within the switch to be executed within a single call without creating direct dependencies on each other. The switch allows new and more efficient connections between wireless and wireline subscribers. In many cases wireless and wireline subscribers having direct access to the switch can connect without using any other switches in the network.

When a subscriber is roaming in another network 100, the roamed into (visited) gateway 130 signals back to the home location register 40 of the subscriber's network 20 and registers its (i.e., the visited gateway's) public switching telephone network 70 telephone directory number and the IP address assigned to the subscriber while connected to the visited network 100.

A request to modify information in a location register is received from an input device coupled to an internet protocol network. The request is converted into an HLR access message. The HLR access message is sent to the location register, and information is modified in the location register in response to the HLR access message.
