Abstract: A partition apparatus or system having one or more panels each releasably fixed with respect to a hinge element. The hinge element includes a first collar fixedly connected to a first hinge leaf and positioned about a hinge pin. The first collar forms a cam surface. A second collar is fixedly connected to a second hinge leaf and positioned about the hinge pin with respect to the first collar. The second collar forms a follower surface that cooperates with the cam surface, wherein at least a portion of the follower surface contacts at least a portion of the cam surface.
