Publication number: 20140258183Abstract: A system that helps users get unstuck determines an archetype to which the user's stuck moment belongs and then provides a diagnosis and one or more tools. Each archetype has a corresponding prescription, each prescription has a corresponding computer-implemented tool. The diagnosis for the person determines a prescription for that person, and the prescription for that person determines at least one computer-implemented tool for that person to deal with the stuck moment.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2014Publication date: September 11, 2014Applicant: Unstuck LLCInventors: Keith E. Publication number: 20050017141Abstract: A license plate bracket for an automotive vehicle includes a generally planar body having self-locking axially engageable retention structures extending from a rear side of the generally planar body. The retention structures allow the license plate bracket to be pushed into locking engagement with a front or rear module of a vehicle without the need for tools, while allowing the bracket to be removed subsequently without leaving any unsightly holes in the bodywork of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2003Publication date: January 27, 2005Applicant: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES LLCInventor: DAVID GLICKMAN

Patent number: 6069594Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing positional and attitude information to a computer. An input device of the present invention comprises a controller, a transducer, and a mouse. In a 6D mode of operation, three-dimensional positional information with three degrees of freedom is provided to the computer. Multiple switches use an impedance ladder to provide multiple signals over a control line from a movable input device for a cursor or viewpoint on a display.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1996Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: Logitech, Inc.Inventors: James Barnes, Ron Mc Clure, David Glickman

Patent number: 5805775Abstract: In a computer system, a user interacts with a plurality of applications using natural language text provided by an input device. In order to enable the applications for user interaction, rules are registered on a blackboard of an arbiter. The arbiter can be localized, or distributed. Each rule is identified with a particular application, and can include a callback procedure. Each rule includes a left-hand side symbol and a right-hand side string which is a translation of the symbol. A parser parses a natural language input text string using the register rules to generate an evaluation tree. The evaluation tree is expressed in the form of an interpretive language. The evaluation tree is interpreted to produce at least one application request. The application request is generated by the callback procedure associated with a specific one of the rules applied during the parsing of the input text. The request is transmitted to the application identified with the applied rule.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1996Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Digital Equipment CorporationInventors: Brian Scott Eberman, Oren David Glickman

Patent number: 4498148Abstract: A method and apparatus for vectorizing text words for compact storage and spelling verification in a mini-processor system without the use of complex mathematics functions. A binary storage table contains a plurality of addressable binary numbers. Each character in an input word is converted into a numerical weighting value. The numerical weighting values for the characters in a word are used to index into a magnitude weighting table. The selected magnitude weights are summed to produce a vector magnitude representation for the input word. The numerical weighting values are also used to cumulatively access the binary storage table. The values output from the binary storage table are modulo-2 added and accumulated to produce a vector angle representation for the input word. The calculated magnitude and angle values are used to compactly store a dictionary memory of correctly spelled words.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1983Date of Patent: February 5, 1985Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: David Glickman

Patent number: 4358824Abstract: A system that intelligently abstracts and archives a document for storage and interprets a free form user retrieval query to recall the document from the storage file. The system includes a method for automatically selecting keywords from the document using a parts of a speech directory. A method is given for weighing the importance or centrality of each keyword with respect to the document of its origin. Using the same logic paths, a free form query that describes the document in the same manner that it would have to be described to a secretary to "find" it in a filing cabinet, the system automatically determines the key matching terms and finds the archived document(s) with the greatest affinity.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1979Date of Patent: November 9, 1982Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Glickman, James T. Repass, Walter S. Rosenbaum, Janet G. Russell

Patent number: 4355371Abstract: A system for reducing the computation required to match a misspelled word against various candidates from a dictionary to find one or more words that represent the best match to the misspelled word. The major facility offered is the ability to computationally discern the degree of apparent match that exists between words that do not perfectly match a given target word without requiring the computationally tedious procedure of character by character positional matching which necessitates shifting and realignment to accommodate for differences between the candidate and target words due to character differences or added and dropped syllables.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1980Date of Patent: October 19, 1982Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Danny B. Convis, David Glickman, Walter S. Rosenbaum

Patent number: 4342085Abstract: A system for reducing storage requirements and accessing times in a text processing machine for automatic spelling verification and hyphenation functions. The system includes a method for storing a word list file and accessing the word list file such that legal prefixes and suffixes are truncated and only the unique root element, or "stem", of a word is stored. A set of unique rules is provided for prefix/suffix removal during compilation of the word list file and subsequent accessing of the word list file. Spelling verification is accomplished by applying the rules to the words whose spelling is to be verified and application of the said rules provides, under most circumstances, a natural hyphenation break point at the prefix-stem and stem-suffix junctions.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1979Date of Patent: July 27, 1982Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Glickman, Evon C. Greanias, James T. Repass, Walter S. Rosenbaum
