Abstract: In general, techniques are described for fused filament fabrication of abradable coatings. An additive manufacturing system comprising a substrate defining a major surface, a filament delivery device, and a computing device may be configured to perform various aspects of the techniques. The computing device may be configured to control the filament delivery device to deposit a filament on the substrate, the filament including a powder and a binder, wherein the binder is configured to be substantially removed from the filament and the powder includes a metal or alloy configured to be sintered to form an abradable layer.

Abstract: A system for performing image-guided surgery includes an instrument having a first portion configured to define a trajectory into the body of a patient, a marker device and a user-interface component. A sensing device receives electromagnetic signals that are reflected or emitted from the marker device, and a processing system, coupled to the sensing device, includes at least one processor configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations that include tracking the position and orientation of the instrument relative to the patient based on the signals received at the sensing device, receiving a signal from the user-interface component of the instrument indicating a user-input event, and saving the trajectory into the body of the patient defined by the first portion of the instrument in response to receiving the signal.

The coherent light source provides improved noise statistics over that of a laser and, accordingly, may be used in sensitive interferometric applications such as light gyroscopes.

Abstract: A hair extension has a linear fixing member from which hairs perpendicularly branch, arranged in a flat configuration and is formed by two flexible tapes adhered to each other to form a fixing strip, with hairs embedded between the two flexible tapes by a fixing adhesive layer arranged therebetween. The tapes are flexible and made of thermoplastic material provided with a plurality of through holes over the surface thereof. The linear fixing member has at least one uncovered adhesive face provided with a pressure-activated and non-permanent further adhesive layer. The tapes are pressed against each other, so that the hairs and the adhesive material of the fixing adhesive layer are at least partially penetrated into the through holes, and the exposed adhesive face forms a support surface for a plurality of peelable films, each separated from the other by a further non-permanent adhesive layer.

Abstract: Intelligently caching global positioning system (GPS) location information from GPS satellites based on cellular radio signal strength received at a portable device. The GPS satellites broadcasts signals to the portable device and the cellular radio signal strength is at a first level indicative of a low GPS reception strength. A second level, at the portable device, of the cellular radio signal strength is detected, and the second level is indicative of an increase in GPS reception strength. GPS location information is speculatively read from the GPS satellites associated with the portable device in response to the detected second level and the increase of the GPS reception strength. The GPS location information is cached on the portable device such that the GPS location information is available to the portable device when the first level of the cellular radio signal strength is less than the second level.

A memory area stores at least one or more of the following service usage information: a service plan of the wireless communication service of the user, a service charge structure of a wireless communication service, a service coverage area of the wireless communication service provider (SP), a usage information of the wireless communication service of the user, and tariff information associated with the usage. A processor is configured to execute computer-executable instructions for monitoring the usage of the wireless communication service. Abstract: An expandable curler is provided to facilitate hair winding, because strain imparted by the curler to the hairs no longer depends on the strain applied by the operator during winding and where possible differences in strain caused by humidity or by drying are compensated by the curler, which consequently expands or contracts itself. The curler includes a body split in two or more rigid longitudinal sectors forming together a winding surface to receive an amount of wound hairs in a contracted configuration. Locking members of the sectors are also included in the contracted configuration and an elastic member, housed inside said sectors, are configured to apply a predetermined elastic force on said sectors, expanding the winding surface and determining a strain state at the wound hairs until reaching a balance between inner elastic force and strain applied to the wound hairs, when the locking members are deactivated.

Abstract: In a green roof structure, containers formed of carpet, desirably of recycled carpet, are used in growing plants that are installed in the green roof system. The trays can be preplanted and installed with the plants already growing in the trays. Alternatively, the trays can be positioned as components of the green roof system, filled with plant growing medium, and planted following their installation. Desirably the trays are substantially rectangular with adjacent corners of adjacent trays interconnected when on the roof structure. Pieces of carpet cut in various shapes can be used to form the respective trays.

The system and method provides a communication mechanism for one or more applications to exchange information with the backup program regarding components of the applications. The information exchanged may include an identification of the components of each application. A component may be considered a group of files or resources that should be backed up or restored together. In this way, when a backup operation is initiated, each application may provide to the common backup program instructions describing the specific components to be backed up. In addition, each application may add other application-specific information useful during a restore of the backed up data.

Abstract: This invention relates to monovalent and multivalent, monospecific antibodies and to multivalent, multispecific antibodies. One embodiment of these antibodies has one or more identical binding sites where each binding site binds with a target antigen or an epitope on a target antigen. Another embodiment of these antibodies has two or more binding sites where these binding sites have affinity towards different epitopes on a target antigen or different target antigens, or have affinity towards a target antigen and a hapten. The present invention further relates to recombinant vectors useful for the expression of these functional antibodies in a host. More specifically, the present invention relates to the tumor-associated antibody designated PAM4. The invention further relates to humanized and human PAM4 antibodies, and the use of such antibodies in diagnosis and therapy.
