In one location, the flow tube prevents fluid flow to the annulus while in another location the flow tube allows fluid flow to be diverted into the annulus. The downhole device may include a locating sleeve having a continuous j-track allowing the flow tube to be selectively retained at the various locations within the downhole device. Fluid flow through the downhole is used to cycle the device between diverting fluid flow to the annulus and forcing fluid flow down the work string.

    Abstract: A ring mill apparatus and method utilizes at least one hydraulic or other direct drive motor to drive a roller in contact with a ring that is to be expanded by the ring mill. The motor may be two opposed radial piston hydraulic motors, to drive an upper king roller, which contacts the outside of the ring, which is inserted between the upper king roller and a lower mandrel roller, which contacts the inside of the ring. The lower mandrel roller is urged upwards against the ring by a ram driven carriage. Two hydraulic or other direct drive motors can be provided in-line with, and directly connected to, the king roller.

    Abstract: A downhole magnetic debris tool is disclosed that may be connected to the bottom of a packer isolation plug. The downhole magnetic debris tool may include a magnetic shield assembly that shields the magnets and prevent the collection of magnetic debris as the packer isolation plug assembly is run into the well. The packer isolation plug assembly is inserted into the internal seal bore of a set packer. The assembly protects the seal bore from damage and prevents debris from moving downhole. The magnets of the downhole magnetic debris tool may be unsheathed upon removal of the packer isolation plug from the packer. The downhole magnetic debris tool may be used to collect magnetic debris that has collected on top of the packer. Additionally, the magnet shield assembly may act as a debris basket collecting downhole debris while the assembly is pulled from the hole.

    Abstract: A displacement annular swivel is disclosed consisting of a mandrel with a sleeve assembly positioned around the outside diameter of the mandrel. The sleeve assembly consists of at least one radial bushing such that the mandrel can be rotated and reciprocated within the sleeve assembly when the sleeve assembly is fixed in a stationary position. At least one sealing element is present on the sleeve assembly to radially seal against the outside diameter of the mandrel. A method for displacing drilling mud from a completed subsea wellbore is also disclosed consisting of closing a blowout preventer around the aforementioned tool connected to the work string. The tool thereby allows the work string to be rotated and reciprocated when the blowout preventer is closed. Drilling fluid can then be displaced from the wellbore by pumping a fluid such as completion brine through the work string and out the choke and kill lines.
