  • Patent number: 5934751
Abstract: A chair attachment for mounting on a bench, in particular a bench seat of a picnic table for providing a comfortable seat for a user. The chair attachment includes a seat and a backrest pivotally coupled thereto. A generally rectangular U-shaped mounting bracket is coupled to the bottom face of the seat for helping hold the seat in a fixed position when rested on a bench of a picnic table.

  • Patent number: 5626382
Abstract: A molded plastic panel according to the invention has an integrated, localized elastomeric plastic pad or flexible-foam pad positioned between an aesthetic cover sheet such as vinyl and a rigid, structural plastic substrate. The cover material is sufficiently flexible to yield readily under the weight of a human hand, permitting a person to feel the soft pad underneath. On the other hand, the pad is resilient, but not so resilient that it pushes out against the cover material, forming an unsightly bulge that traces the outline of the pad. The present invention achieves both of these features, particularly in combination with a reaction injection-molded plastic substrate.

  • Patent number: 5621163
Abstract: An apparatus for testing the flow of liquid resin through a solid porous material utilizing a tube of a certain cross-sectional size. The tube includes first and second openings and is intended to carry the liquid resin. A vessel is also employed, having an interior chamber and an opening for accommodating a portion of the tube within the chamber of the vessel. A reservoir for the resin is located within the chamber and communicates with the first opening of the tube within the chamber. Pressure means is exerted in the chamber to urge the liquid resin through the tube. A mass of the solid porous material is placed within the tube between the reservoir and the tube second openings. Penetration or flow during a set time period, through the material is measured as a distance relative to the position of the material located in the tube.

  • Patent number: 4597360
Abstract: The salinity driven oceanographic upwelling is maintained in a mariculture device that includes a long main duct in the general shape of a cylinder having perforated cover plates at each end. The mariculture device is suspended vertically in the ocean such that one end of the main duct is in surface water and the other end in relatively deep water that is cold, nutrient rich and relatively fresh in comparison to the surface water which is relatively warm, relatively nutrient deficient and relatively saline. A plurality of elongated flow segregating tubes are disposed in the main duct and extend from the upper cover plate beyond the lower cover plate into a lower manifold plate. The lower manifold plate is spaced from the lower cover plate to define a deep water fluid flow path to the interior space of the main duct. Spacer tubes extend from the upper cover plate and communicate with the interior space of the main duct.

  • Patent number: 3979792
Abstract: This is an improvement of the neck stretching and body restraining frame disclosed in Giger, Westervelt patent application Ser. No. 618,463, filed concurrently herewith. The jaw holder is eliminated and a shoulder brace is provided under the neck restraining extension. The shoulder brace is constructed of two triangular pieces with ends connected to the inner and outer bars of the body frame and suitably constructed to firmly hold the animal to be slaughtered.

  • Patent number: 3967344
Abstract: In transferring an animal in the standing position from a chute to a conveyor, such as a double rail arrangement, a triangular wedge movable horizontally is positioned between the chute and the conveyor with a slippery inclined ramp directly under the wedge and with the conveyor positioned below the wedge, whereby the animal attempting to step on the wedge will step on the ramp and when pushed by animals behind it, will step and slide onto the conveyor with its legs upright and straddling the conveyor. A cover is located at rump dimension above the wedge edge so as to prevent the animal from stepping on the wedge and getting off the conveyor while stepping onto the conveyor from the chute.
