  • Patent number: 5024159
Abstract: An explosive sheet which is formed by a layer of explosive material, a layer of foil, and an inert space forming material. These three layers are repeated to number, n, times to form a composite plane-wave forming explosive sheet.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1987
Date of Patent: June 18, 1991
    Inventor: David H. Walley
  • Patent number: 4872911
Abstract: A method of using a particulate matter formed of a tri-dimensional cross-linked superabsorbent hydrogel for stopping leaks in a cooling system of a vehicle. The hydrogel is added to a filled coolant system and the engine is run for a period of time until the leakage stops.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 1988
Date of Patent: October 10, 1989
Inventors: David H. Walley, Marvin R. DeVries
  • Patent number: 4588505
Abstract: A water absorption pouch comprising an open-mesh, hydrocarbon impervious, cloth (e.g., nylon, polypropylene, fiberglass) container confining a water absorbent polymer phase (e.g., mixture of an alkali metal base hydrolyzed starch/acrylonitrile copolymer or alkali metal alkylcarboxamide and a carboxylmethyl or hydroxyethyl cellulose) and sufficient ballast to make the pouch settle to the bottom of a hydrocarbon liquid. Such a water absorption pouch can be tethered and lowered to the bottom of a hydrocarbon containing vessel to absorb a low lying water phase and then removed, dehydrated by squeezing and reused repeatedly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 1984
Date of Patent: May 13, 1986
    Assignee: Frontier Technology, Inc.
Inventors: David H. Walley, James C. Fitch
