Abstract: A cat amusement and activity device. The device includes a base configured to reside upon a horizontal surface and to support an activity post extending perpendicularly therefrom. The activity post includes a plurality of segments, each such segment comprising a different scratching surface and at least one such scratching surface being a corrugated cardboard cylinder. Other scratching surfaces can include but are not limited to carpet, sisal, rope, seagrass and natural fibers.

Abstract: A pet amusement device having a base, stem emanating from the base and a corrugated cardboard cylinder having a circular cross section and opening through its center sized to receive the stem. The corrugations of the cardboard cylinder extend to the outer surface of the cylinder to enable a pet to have access to it during use. The present invention is particularly applicable for use as a scratching surface for a domesticated cat.

Abstract: A recreational pet toy for cats which includes an outer covering and a cord attached to the pet toy for hanging the recreational pet toy during use. The pet toy also includes an elongated channel for receiving catnip and distributing the catnip along its length.

Abstract: A cat activity pad sized to accommodate a domestic cat. The pad is characterized as having a plurality of distinct regions, each region designed to satisfy a need of a domestic cat different from at least one other region. As a preferred embodiment, loops are releasably retained by the cat activity pad extending over the pad to hang pet toys thereon.

Abstract: A cat scratcher system for providing at least one surface suitable for cat scratching. This system includes a shell being capable of accepting at least one cat scratching insert, the shell having sides, an opening for inserting and removing the first cat scratching insert and a top and bottom. At least one of the shell surfaces, such as the top, is further characterized as having an open region for displaying a first cat scratching surface of the insert to the exterior of the shell. The system contemplates the use of replaceable inserts used as current cat scratching surfaces become degraded upon use. These inserts can provide alternative cat scratching surfaces. The entire system can be employed in many diverse orientations by hanging it from a wall or door, lying it horizontally on a floor or bracing it diagonally between a floor and wall.
