  • Publication number: 20180193409
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of treating a disease or condition associated with signalling via the TPO receptor. The method comprises the step of administering an effective amount of a peptidyl TPO receptor antagonist to a subject in need thereof, wherein the peptidyl TPOR receptor antagonist is a cyclic or linear peptidyl compound comprising the following structural formula (I): Xbb-Xaa-Xcc wherein Xbb represents a residue of an amino acid selected from arginine (R) and lysine (K); Xaa represents a residue of an amino acid selected from glutamine (Q), asparagine (N), aspartic acid (D), and glutamic acid (E); Xcc represents a residue of an amino acid selected from tryptophan (W), phenylalanine (F), tyrosine (Y), and histidine (H); or a salt thereof.

  • Publication number: 20080076148
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of identifying a haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) or progeny thereof comprising the steps of: obtaining a cell sample including HSC or progeny thereof; detecting the presence of at least one carbohydrate sequence having a sequence of at least one disaccharide repeat of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine or an equivalent thereof; and identifying a HSC or progeny thereof having the sequence or equivalent thereof. The invention also relates to methods of enriching cell populations for HSC or progeny thereof, for isolating HSC or progeny thereof and cell preparations obtained using the methods of their invention and their uses.

  • Publication number: 20060269527
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for isolating cells from bone(s) harvested from a mammal. The method comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining a bone(s) containing bone marrow from the mammal; (b) fragmentation of the bone(s); (c) washing the bone fragments produced from step (b) and recovery of dislodged cells; (d) treating the bone fragments with a composition to release cells adhered to the endosteal region of the bone; (e) harvesting the cells following treatment of the bone fragments according to step (d); and (f) optionally combining the cells from steps (c) and (e).

  • Publication number: 20060046268
Abstract: A method of diagnosis of anemia is disclosed whereby blood is withdrawn from a patient and the level of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) in the blood are determined by detecting a cell surface protein chosen from ACE+, CD34+, CD38, CD90+ (thyl) and Lin?. Patients with low levels of HSC are treated and in particular patients whose levels have been reduced by drugs such as ACE inhibitors are treated using an intermittent treatment regimine of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20050271657
Abstract: A method of treating patients with coronary heart failure (CHF) by the intermittent administration of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and/or angiostatin II receptor agonists (ARBs) is disclosed. The ACE inhibitor is administered to the patient during a treatment period and the levels of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) in the patient's blood is determined. Treatment with the ACE inhibitor is discontinued (during a recovery period) when the measured level of hematopoietic cells drops below a given point and is re-administered when levels rise above a given point. Alternating, treatment and recovery periods can be repeated a plurality of times. Levels of HSC may be determined based on ACE+ cell levels or by monitoring CD34 levels and the results used to determine optimum points for the administration of drugs which reduce HSC levels.
