    Abstract: Featured is a device particularly suitable for heating water in a container, such as a pail or bird bath, so as to maintain a source of drinking water for domesticated animals, wild animals and livestock. A water heating device according to the present invention includes a housing, a heat generating mechanism that is disposed within the housing and electrically coupled to a power supply and a mechanism that thermally couples the heat generating mechanism and the housing so that at least some of the generated heat energy is coupled to the housing.
