  • Patent number: 8501012
Abstract: A filter sub apparatus comprising a housing configured to contain a filter and a bypass mechanism is provided. The bypass mechanism may be actuated upon debris buildup on the filter resulting in a load applied to the bypass mechanism rising above a predetermined lower level. A method to prevent chemical injection process failures may also be provided. The method may comprise the steps of providing a filter sub prior to a check valve. The filter sub may include a filter and a bypass mechanism. Another step may be passing fluid through the filter. In addition, the steps may also include containing at least some debris on a side of the filter such that the debris is prevented from reaching the check valve. A further step may be actuating the bypass mechanism after the debris builds up to a level in which a resulting load applied to the bypass mechanism exceeds a lower limit.

  • Patent number: 8286709
Abstract: A technique enables injection of treatment chemicals at a plurality of desired locations along a well. A multi-point chemical injection system is connected and deployed into a wellbore. The multi-point chemical injection system delivers one or more treatment chemicals along the wellbore to the desired locations at a plurality of injection zones. A single control line is run from a surface location down through the wellbore to the plurality of injection zones. The single control line is used to deliver the treatment chemical to each of the injection zones.

  • Publication number: 20120199365
Abstract: A regulation mechanism configured to automatically close off fluid flow through a line based on flow rate exceeding a predetermined level. This mechanism may be particularly beneficial when employed in conjunction with downhole chemical injection systems that are directed at well locations prone to becoming low pressure in nature. That is, in a conventional system, once the inherent pressure at the downhole end of an injection line exceeds that of the adjacent downhole environment, the flow rate of the column of fluid in the line may naturally increase as chemical is unintentionally emptied into the well. However, use of embodiments of the flow-based regulation mechanism detailed herein may near-automatically prevent such undesirable emptying of chemical into a low pressure well.
