  • Patent number: 8565148
Abstract: Systems and methods for mobile communications are disclosed herein. An example method for a mobile station includes receiving first data from a carrier on a first frequency using a first receiver of the mobile station in a first timeslot, tuning a second frequency of the carrier using the second receiver while the first receiver is receiving the first data during the first timeslot, and receiving second data from the carrier on the second frequency using the second receiver during a second timeslot that immediately follows the first timeslot, wherein the mobile station receives data on all timeslots without each of two time division multiple access frames.

  • Patent number: 8483133
Abstract: An approach is provided for providing a reliable transmission of data associated with different traffic types over a common communication session. A temporary block is established between an apparatus and another apparatus. The apparatus multiplexes Radio Link Control (RLC) acknowledged mode data and at least one of RLC unacknowledged mode data and RLC non-persistent mode data. The apparatus then determines to transmit the multiplexed data in the temporary block flow to the other apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8412250
Abstract: Methods and systems for slow associated control channel signaling are disclosed. An example method for securing communications in a mobile network disclosed herein comprises transmitting a first variant of a message of a first type on a first slow associated control channel (SACCH) before ciphering is started on the first SACCH, and after ciphering is started on the first SACCH, transmitting a second variant of the message of the first type on the first SACCH, and subsequently transmitting the second variant of the message of the first type on the first SACCH, wherein the subsequently transmitted second variant of the message of the first type is the next transmitted message of the first type on the first SACCH.

  • Publication number: 20120003975
Abstract: Methods and systems of performing cell change for a circuit-switched call without a mobile station receiving a description of resources in a target cell are provided. In some embodiments, a command is generated at the serving cell which indicates to the mobile station to perform a cell change without first receiving a description of resources in the target cell. In some embodiments, a command is generated at the target cell which may be like a handover command, but which indicates to the mobile station to perform the cell change without an allocation of resources.
