  • Publication number: 20150168178
Abstract: The angular and axial position sensor arrangement comprises several sensors arranged adjacently, and aligned parallel to the axis of an encoded member that is angularly and axially displaceable relative to the sensors. The encoded member comprises N?1 axial detection encoded rings with value A along their entire circumference and comprises an Nth axial detection encoded ring that is axially adjacent with value B, different from value A, along its entire circumference. The values of axial detection encoded rings are distinguishable by the sensors overlapping some axial detection encoded rings. The encoded member comprises several angular detection encoded rings axially adjacent to the Nth axial detection encoded ring. The angular detection encoded rings comprise a coding pattern composed of A and B values along their circumference to determine angular position by some sensors overlapping them.

  • Publication number: 20100077188
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, system, and computer readable medium for completing critical write functions to a non-volatile memory (NVM) system within an electronic device upon experiencing a sudden or unexpected loss of the main power to the electronic device. A sudden loss of main external power is detected and determined if the loss of power crosses a minimum threshold level. If it does, an interrupt is generated to prevent new write requests. One embodiment uses a software interrupt and another embodiment uses a hardware interrupt. A switch over to a short term reserve internal power source occurs and the NVM write function in progress at the time of the power loss is completed. Upon completion of the NVM write operation, less critical shutdown activities can commence.

  • Patent number: 7416878
Abstract: Live attenuated vaccines against brucellosis and infection by other diseases are described. It has been discovered that trans complementation of the Brucella wboA gene can be used to maintain an expression vector in an attenuated Brucella host cell in a vaccinee. Further, heterologous antigens can be expressed using this Brucella platform, thus effecting a multivalent vaccine against Brucella and the disease corresponding to the heterologous antigen.

  • Patent number: 7404449
Abstract: A pile driving control apparatus for a pile driving system includes a hydraulic control system that controls a throttle of a pile driving hammer, and thereby controls an impact velocity of the hammer with a pile. A controller provides a control signal to the hydraulic control system. Based on the control signal, the hydraulic control system controls an impact velocity of the hammer during a subsequent hammer stroke. The controller may determine one or more control parameters such as sound pressure at a sound control location during a hammer stroke, vibration at a vibration control location during a hammer stroke, an impact force imparted to the pile during a hammer stroke, and/or actual pile capacity of the pile, and provide to the hydraulic control system a control signal based on the determined control parameter(s).

  • Patent number: 7260184
Abstract: A test system and method for scheduling and running multiple tests on a single system residing in a single test environment. The test system comprises a processor operable to receive a request to run a selected test on the system at a selected start time, and determine a time slot for the selected test. The test system is also operable to identify any scheduled tests to be run on the system within the time slot, and identify any conflicts between the selected test and any scheduled tests. If no scheduled tests are identified or if no conflicts are identified, the processor is operable to schedule the selected test to run on the system at the selected start time. If conflicts are identified, the processor is preferably operable to determine an alternative start time for the selected test that avoids any conflicts. Various exemplary embodiments of the test system and associated method are provided.

  • Patent number: 7156188
Abstract: A pile driver comprises a hammer for impacting a pile, a velocity sensor for measuring the velocity at impact, and a control system for adjusting the hammer stroke in accordance with the readings from the velocity sensor so that the optimal impact energy is imparted to the head of the pile. Optionally, the system further comprises a pile driving analyzer (including at least one strain gauge and/or an accelerometer) mounted on the side of the pile itself to determine whether the impact loading on the pile is below the maximum allowable stress. If the pile driving analyzer senses an overload of stress on the pile, the control system will reduce the velocity of the subsequent hammer stroke so that it no longer exceeds the maximum allowable stress.
