  • Patent number: 5857633
Abstract: A cup holder for holding receptacles such as cans, bottles and the like includes a housing and a pair of receptacle holding rings rotatably mounted on the housing for movement in different planes between a retracted position in which the holding rings are located in the interior of the housing and an extended position in which the holding rings extend out of the housing. A closure element is also provided for closing the open front of the housing when the receptacle holding rings are in the retracted position. The receptacle holding rings are provided with engaging elements that engage one another when the receptacle holding rings are in the extended position. The engaging elements define a predefined stop position for the two rings in the extended position. Additionally, tabs are provided on one of the rings to prevent the rings from crossing over one another.
