  • Patent number: 8687722
Abstract: An OFDM wireless communication system with an access point and a plurality of remote user terminals estimates an uplink channel. The access point receives training symbols transmitted by the user terminals. Each training symbol includes pilot symbols associated with phase offset estimation OFDM sub-carriers. The phase offset estimation sub-carriers include subsets of sub-carriers associated with each respective user terminals. Each subset is used exclusively by the associated user terminal during channel estimation. The channel estimation sub-carriers are used by all user terminals. For each terminal the access point estimates symbol-specific phase offsets specific to the user terminal using the received pilot symbols associated with the user specific subset of the phase offset estimation sub-carriers. The access point also estimates the uplink channel using the user-terminal-symbol-specific phase offset estimates and the received symbols.

  • Patent number: 8521762
Abstract: In a method for generating a business process model project, a computer receives a data file comprising text, descriptive of a business process. The computer searches a sentence in the text for a keyword indicative of existence of a corresponding business artifact stated elsewhere in the sentence. In response, the computer identifies an indicator in the sentence, the indicator designating a name of the corresponding business artifact. The computer identifies a business artifact based on the keyword and the indicator. The computer generates a business process model project based in part on the business artifact.

  • Publication number: 20130067397
Abstract: A touch screen computing device with an easy to use user interface. The computing device provides on the touch screen a control area associated with a content viewing area. Touch inputs that initiate in the control area, even if they extend into the viewing area, are interpreted as commands that manipulate the display of content. Other touch inputs are interpreted as interactions with displayed content. The control area may be formatted to allow easy access by a user holding the computing device. Through such an interface the user may input commands specifying direct manipulation of the content, to without frustration that can occur from the computing device incorrectly interpreting those commands as interaction with the content.

  • Patent number: 8376239
Abstract: A method of read magnetic stripe card(s) into a database, to select a specific card from the database, and to output the data related to that specific card to existing merchant card reader equipment with no modification. A simulated magnetic stripe card can be tethered to a cell phone via the headset jacks. A more complex design uses an un-tethered, simulated magnetic stripe card by including BLUETOOTH (or other wireless) communications on the card. This dual purpose invention is intended to eliminate the need to carry multiple magnetic stripe cards in a wallet or purse by consolidating all of the individual card information into a form to be reproduced onto the simulation card when needed by the user. It can also be used at a merchant POS card reader to allow an existing MSD reader to be converted to use in wireless cell phone transactions e.g. BLUETOOTH or NFC.

  • Publication number: 20110286505
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of measuring time of arrival of a signal transmitted from a transmitter (120) to reciever (110-n). The method comprises: modulating a plurality of narrowband signal portions onto different carrier frequencies; transmitting by the transmitter, each modulated signal portion to the receiver; receiving, by the receiver, the transmitted signal portions; estimating the channel impulse response by combining (610) the received signal portions; and measuring (620) the time of arrival using the estimated channel impulse response. Further disclosed is a method of measuring a time of arrival of a signal transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver. The method comprises: estimating a noise level (1310) in an impulse response of a channel between the transmitter and the receiver; finding a first peak (1330) in the channel impulse response that is not noise or a side lobe of a subsequent peak, using the estimated noise level; and measuring the time of arrival (1220) using the first peak.

  • Patent number: 7542850
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing geophysical survey data is provided. Detection of geophysically significant subsurface anomalies potentially associated with ore bodies or hydrocarbon deposits can be made by vehicle mounted surface or airborne regional gravitational studies. Recorded geophysical survey data is processed to synchronize data collected by various sensors. Data from the various sensors is synchronized based on position coordinates corresponding to locations where the data was collected. In this manner, at one specific location on Earth, the electromagnetic reading, magnetometer reading, gravimeter reading, and altimeter reading can all be associated together so that many characteristics of the specific location can be identified.
