  • Publication number: 20220226664
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for generating electrical activity in a volume conductor which has a low-frequency component that is localized within the volume conductor. This is accomplished by applying a non-localized high-frequency electromagnetic stimulus to the bulk of the volume conductor, simultaneous with the application of a high-frequency acoustic stimulus which is synchronized or partially synchronized with the electromagnetic stimulus and which is focused at a target focal region within the volume conductor.

  • Patent number: 8632561
Abstract: A surgical cutting device and method for performing surgery using such is provided. The surgical device includes a handpiece or other, a stationary outer cannula connected to the base, a rotatable inner cannula connected to the base, an inner elongated shaft member connected to a distal interior surface of the lumen of the outer cannula, and a tissue cutting opening. The inner cannula includes a plurality of blades that interact with a plurality of ridges on the inner elongated shaft upon rotation of the inner cannula facilitating maceration of tissue within the lumen to prevent clogging of the device.

  • Publication number: 20070039507
Abstract: A penetrator includes a fore body comprising a pin and having a center of aerodynamic pressure forward of a center of gravity and a stabilizing portion comprising a material of lower density than that of the fore body and a plurality of outwardly extending fins for improving an aerodynamic stability of the projectile and defining a bore in which the pin is received for removably attaching the fore body thereto such that, when attached to the fore body, a center of gravity for the penetrator is forward of a center of aerodynamic pressure for the penetrator.

  • Publication number: 20070003182
Abstract: A fiber optic impact sensing system includes a light source, an optical detector, and a sensing optical fiber optically coupled with the light source and the optical detector, the sensing optical fiber being operably associated with an outer surface of a structure. An apparatus includes a structure having an outer surface and a fiber optic impact sensing system operably associated with the outer surface of the structure. The fiber optic impact sensing system includes a light source, an optical detector, and a sensing optical fiber optically coupled with the light source and the optical detector. A method includes operably associating a sensing optical fiber with an outer surface of a structure, monitoring an optical output of the sensing optical fiber, and determining whether an amplitude of the optical output is above or below a predetermined threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20060254452
Abstract: A fluid jet apparatus includes a housing defining a propellant cavity, a fluid cavity, and a passage through the housing in fluid communication with the fluid cavity. The apparatus further includes a membrane separating the propellant cavity and the fluid cavity, a propellant disposed in the propellant cavity, and a fluid retained in the fluid cavity. The propellant urges the fluid from the fluid cavity through the passage upon initiation of the propellant. A munition system includes a munition and at least one fluid jet apparatus adapted to vent the munition. A method includes initiating a propellant to produce a rapidly expanding gas and urging a fluid through a passageway with the gas to produce a fluid jet.
