  • Publication number: 20240346488
Abstract: A method for securing a split private key (such as used with a cryptocurrency or other non-custodial electronic wallet) amongst a password, biometrics, and a social service. The process may use a sharding scheme such as Shamir's Secret Sharing to ensure that multiple key shards must be obtained before the entire private key can be obtained. The user may select the number of shards required to retrieve the private key thereby controlling the security of the account. An additional shard may be held on an encrypted server allows for account recovery even while maintaining non-custodial ownership of the wallet.

  • Publication number: 20240062189
Abstract: A method for executing a transaction on a blockchain or other distributed ledger that enables a user holding only non-native tokens to execute the transaction. A backend wallet managed by a backend server maintains different native token types for different blockchain types and is used to execute the transaction on behalf of the user. The backend server then reconciles the cost with the user's own wallet.

  • Publication number: 20240062203
Abstract: A method for executing a transaction on a blockchain or other distributed ledger that reduces transaction gas fees. A backend server estimates gas fees based on recent successful transactions and obtains user approval before submitting the transaction to blockchain.

  • Publication number: 20240062204
Abstract: A method for executing a transaction on a blockchain or other distributed ledger that protects the user from other blockchain users attempting to front run or rerun an approved transaction. A backend server searches the blockchain for existing transactions that use the same approval.

  • Publication number: 20240062192
Abstract: A method for using metadata to consolidate two transactions into one to execute a smart contract as a single transaction on a blockchain or other distributed ledger. Compared to the previous two-step smart contract execution process, this one-tap process (such as for staking an amount to a pool) allows specifying a predefined amount to execute instead of an exploitable infinite amount.

  • Patent number: 8176561
Abstract: A method and appertaining system for implementing the method are provided that utilize predefined Best Practice Templates that are rules/criteria for assessing the security of a particular network and devices on the network. A value is determined for each object and connection within a network as to whether it passes or fails one of the Best Practice criteria, and a pass ratio is determined for a particular Best Practice. Numerous Best Practice tests may be run, and an overall total value based on the collective sum of the Best Practice measurements is determined. This value can be utilized to provide a user with information that relates to the overall security of a network and can be used in compliance determinations and network architecture design.

  • Patent number: 8155706
Abstract: A scent notification system operably coupled to a conventional cellular phone wherein the scent notification system is configured to alert the cellular phone user to an incoming communication via dispersal of a fluid having a specific aromatic property. The scent notification system further includes a housing that is operably coupled to the cellular phone. The housing has an interior volume that has contained therein at least one cartridge containing a fluid and an expansion chamber operably coupled thereto. The cartridge further includes a propellant to propel the fluid from the cartridge to the expansion chamber where the fluid converts to a gaseous phase and then propagates out of the expansion chamber via a nozzle.

  • Patent number: 8020110
Abstract: Documents are grouped into a plurality of subjects. For documents associated with each subject, a document hierarchy is established that includes a plurality of hierarchical levels. A three-dimensional landscape defined by x, y and z orthogonal axes is displayed on a screen, and a plurality of document stacks are arranged in the landscape. Each document stack in the landscape corresponds to a subject, and has a plurality of layers arranged perpendicular to the length of the stack. Each layer in each document stack corresponds to one of the hierarchical levels of the hierarchy established for the subject corresponding to the stack. Images representing documents assigned to each level of the hierarchy are displayed in the layer of the stack corresponding to such level. A user navigates among the document images displayed in the landscape using a cursor.

  • Patent number: 7849497
Abstract: Described herein are a method and system for analyzing the security of a computer network. According to various implementations, there is a device adapter associated with each device that has a significant impact on the security of the network (e.g., routers, switches, gateways, or “significant hosts”). The device adapter, which may be implemented as a piece of software executing remotely from the device, queries the device to determine what its security settings are (e.g., its firewall rules). The device adapter conducts the query using whichever form of communication the device requires (e.g., telnet, HTTP) and using whichever command set the device requires. Each type of device on the network has a software model associated with it. For example, there may be a router model, a switch model, a firewall model, and a gateway model. The model is made up of a series of rule sets. Each rule set includes rules that are derived from the configuration of the device (obtained by the device adapter).

  • Patent number: 7629277
Abstract: Fabric laminates having superior resistance to penetration of fragments, such as shrapnel. The fabrics are formed of high-strength fibers consolidated with from about 7% to about 15% by weight of an elastomeric matrix composition, and in combination with protective layers of a polymer film on each surface of the fabric. The fabrics achieve a significant improvement in fragment resistance compared to fabrics of the prior art, while also maintaining excellent ballistic resistant properties.

  • Publication number: 20080064280
Abstract: A composite material which has excellent ballistic performance and has improved flexibility. Surprisingly, it has been found that a combination of poly(alpha-olefin) fiber and matrix resin provides these desirable product features. The resin matrix is a block copolymer of a conjugated diene and a vinyl aromatic monomer, preferably a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer, that is applied as an aqueous composition. The fiber has a tenacity of at least about 35 g/d and a tensile modulus of at least about 1200 g/d. The composite has a total density equal to or less than about 100 g/m2 and a stiffness of less than about 2.5 pounds (1.14 kg) for a two layer structure of the composite, and a total areal density equal to or less than about 190 g/m2 and a stiffness of less than about 3.0 pounds (1.36 kg) for a four layer structure of the composite. The Peel Strength for a two layer structure of less than about 1.0 pounds (0.45 kg) for a two layer structure of the composite, and less than about 0.7 pounds (0.
