  • Publication number: 20180001501
Abstract: An articulating member adapted to articulate about multiple axes and method for making same is disclosed. The articulating member may comprise an articulating section that allows for the articulating member to articulate laterally, vertically, or both so that the articulating member may be articulated to fit along the contour of a substrate and be adhered or affixed thereto. The articulating section may be arranged in a corrugated pattern with alternating ridges and furrows. The geometry of the articulating section is such that the stress concentrations along the various surfaces of the articulating member may be reduced when the member is articulated laterally, vertically, or both. The method comprises the steps of providing a die being shaped with geometry that will produce an articulating member, and machining a sheet of material to produce an articulating member.

  • Patent number: 6965826
Abstract: Electronically controlled internal combustion engines are operated based upon control calibration algorithms that can come in a variety of forms, including maps, equations, surfaces and other mathematical techniques. Each combination of a control calibration algorithm and a particular engine must satisfy certain constraints such as customer acceptance and value demands, and should have the ability to perform a variety of expected duty cycles for the given engine application. A plurality of different engine control calibration algorithms are made available to an engine control system. Each of the engine calibration algorithms corresponds to a particular duty cycle while being optimized for a performance parameter such as reduced emissions, while meeting a variety of constraints.

  • Patent number: 6842689
Abstract: A method and system may be provided to perform a process for controlling power provided by an engine in a machine. In an embodiment of the present invention, a process for controlling power provided by an engine operating in a machine is provided. The process may include determining a first power value reflecting a predetermined first power to be provided by the engine to a component operating in the machine and determining, during machine operations, at least one of a parasitic load power value and an intermittent power load value. A second power value may then be determined that reflects a second power provided by the engine based on the parasitic power value, the intermittent power value, and the net power value. The second power value is adjusted such that the engine substantially provides the predetermined net power to the component.

In an embodiment of the present invention, a process for controlling power provided by an engine operating in a machine is provided. The process may include determining a first power value reflecting a predetermined first power to be provided by the engine to a component operating in the machine. Further, the process may include determining, during machine operations, at least one of a parasitic power value reflecting power received by a parasitic load module from the engine and an intermittent power value reflecting power received by an intermittent load module from the engine. A second power value may then be determined that reflects a second power provided by the engine based on the parasitic power value, the intermittent power value, and the net power value.
