  • Patent number: 4825614
Abstract: An anchoring system and method for fastening a plurality of veneer units (12) to a substrate wall (11) with a waterproof membrane (13) therebetween. The anchoring system (10) comprises a membrane-holding means (14) which is attached to the substrate wall (11) and holds the membrane proximate the wall (11) without puncturing the membrane (13). The anchoring system (10) also includes a support and tie structure (20) including a stationary anchor (19) and a vertically slidable, horizontal tie (24) which is positioned between adjacent units of veneer (12) for stabilization of the veneer wall. The invention further includes means for interconnecting the support and tie structure to the membrane-holding means. In one embodiment of the invention, this interconnecting means comprises a base channel (33) having upper and lower, outwardly extending horizontal legs. The base channel (33) has a central aperture (36) which accommodates the membrane-holding means (14).

  • Patent number: 4593976
Abstract: A solar concentrator having a stationary reflective collector (20) located to view the sky and reflect solar energy to a stationary reflective reflector (30) positioned to receive such reflected energy and reflect the energy toward a target within a structure through a side wall (19). A low angle shield (32) prevents most direct rays from entering, unreflected, into a work space inside the structure and a shield (36) prevents solar energy, reflected by the collector (20) and the reflector (30) from penetrating a plane (38) space above the floor a distance generally equal to the height of the eye of an occupant standing on the floor of the structure.

  • Patent number: 4329021
Abstract: A passive solar lighting system is disclosed. A multiplyer lens (20) located within an aperture (12) in a building (10) increases the cone of light acceptance which would result in the absence of lens (20). Light passing through lens (20) is further refracted by lenses (22, 24) and the resultant light is thereby directed to a target area (14) for interior lighting.

  • Patent number: 3932666
Abstract: A treatment for trees infected with fungus diseases producing characteristic wilt which comprises injecting a solution including as the active ingredient thereof a halogenated compound structurally similar to the lignin. Typical examples include halogenated compounds of the creosols, catechol and dimethoxy toluene.
