  • Patent number: 7484397
Abstract: A punch, apparatus and method for forming opposing holes in a hollow part, and a part formed therefrom. The punch includes an end portion adapted to pierce an entry hole and bend material around the entry hole to form a retained slug along an inner edge of the entry hole. The punch also includes an enlarging portion adapted to enter the entry hole after the end portion to enlarge the entry hole by bending the slug and additional material towards the interior of the part. The punch has a length greater than a cross-section of the part such that further advancement of the punch through the part punches an exit hole in the part opposite the entry hole.

  • Patent number: 5845599
Abstract: A control system for a vacuum milking system, and a method of controlling vacuum in such milking system. The system comprises an electric vacuum pump motor, a vacuum transducer for providing an output signal that varies as a function of changes in vacuum in the milking line and a variable frequency drive (VFD) connected to the vacuum pump motor and the transducer for controlling the speed of the motor. The VFD varies the frequency of the power signal it provides to the motor as a function of deviation between the output signal from the transducer, which the VFD is programmed to recognize as representative of vacuum, and a setpoint representative of vacuum.

  • Patent number: 4756787
Abstract: A co-curable composition, having utility as a first part of a two-part cationically curable composition and containing a latent curing component which is reactive with a latent curing component in a second part of the two-part composition to form curingly effective cations for the two-part composition, such co-curable composition comprising: (i) a cationically polymerizable material, and (ii) a dioxane-complexed metal salt of a non-nucleophilic anion. Also disclosed is a two-part composition curable by contact of respective parts with one another, comprising first and second parts of the aforementioned types. A preferred class of cation species comprises carbenium ions derived from reaction of an organic halide compound, as the first component, with a metal salt of a non-nucleophilic anion such as SbCl.sub.6.sup.-, SbCl.sub.3.sup.-, SbF.sub.6.sup.-, AsF.sub.6.sup.-, SnCl.sub.5.sup.-, PF.sub.6.sup.-, BF.sub.4.sup.-, CF.sub.3 SO.sub.3.sup.-, and ClO.sub.4.sup.-, as the second component.

  • Patent number: 4717440
Abstract: A two-part composition curable by contact of respective parts with one another, comprising: a first part comprising a cationically polymerizable material and a first latent curing component; and a second part comprising a cationically polymerizable material and a second latent curing component which is reactive with the first component to form cations which are curingly effective for the resin. A preferred class of cation species comprises carbenium ions derived from reaction of organic halide compounds, as the first component, with silver salts of non-nucleophilic anions, e.g., SbCl.sub.6.sup.-, SbCl.sub.3.sup.-, SbF.sub.6.sup.-, AsF.sub.6.sup.-, SnCl.sub.5.sup.-, PF.sub.6.sup.-, BF.sub.4.sup.-, CF.sub.3 SO.sub.3.sup.- and ClO.sub.4.sup.-, as the second component, The respective parts of the two-part composition may be applied to matable surfaces which then are contacted to effect rapid bonding cure of the composition.

  • Patent number: 4426410
Abstract: A method for coating the internal threads of a fastener includes a rotatable base for holding the fastener, and an applicator having a discharge orifice extending through its side wall which contacts the internal threads at a single point of tangency, the axis of the applicator being offset from the rotational axis of the base. Thus, an induced side load force is created at the point of tangency for effecting the pressing of discharged sealant into the roots of the threads. Differently sized internally threaded elements can be coated in accordance with the invention while using the same sealant applicator.
